About this property
Riverside holiday home sleeps 10
Summary:
Enjoy the holidays with close family, friends, relax in a luxury, enjoying our pool, hot tub on the Sacramento River. Plenty of space getting together, anniversaries, reunions without sacrificing serenity to relax & recharge. Easy off-and-on access from the I-5 Riverside Exit 670 to access all the adventures Shasta County offers. Rent the cottage too for even more space & privacy. Make lasting memories together!
The Space:
We have set up RiverHouse for easy self check-in, usually by 4pm. I will give you the code to the keyless door entry, and when you check in, look on the AirBnB app for all the details and pictures to help you quickly get settled. I also have a Ring Doorbell so we can talk if we happen to be away. If you need to work we have strong internet as well as a laser printer in the office area you can use.
Up to 8 people can relax in our brand new large hot tub which sits between the house and the cottage for all to share and enjoy!
We have a coffee maker so bring your favorite blend or enjoy a tea selection. There is a grocery very close by and you can feel free to cook up your favorite meal in this wonderful kitchen. We even have a gas grill outside you may want to use to bbq some steaks or cook those fresh fish you catch on the river! Lounge on the deck or by the pool. You may get to see an bald eagle too! Locally, we have many wonderful restaurants and fast food available too, to recharge before your journey down the highway. Bethel Church is a quick 10-minute drive north at Exit 680. Whether you are just passing through, visiting the area, attending a conference, or need a place to rest and recharge, come to the Riverhouse!
In the living room and the master bedroom there are Smart TVs you can enjoy watching. The Spectrum App works like cable TV with lots of channels. In the writing room, there is a tv monitor with HDMI cable so you can hook up your gaming device if you want to bring that with you. Lots of people come to Redding for conferences at Bethel or the Stirring. We are part of the Stirring and would love to help you get connected.
This is a NO SMOKING - NO PETs home, so please do not take any liberties in this aspect. We have guests and children who are very allergic. If we grant permission to bring a pet, there is a one-time $100 pet sanitising fee
Here in California there have to been many power outages in 2019. PG&E has been leaving our power on when many are in the dark, so come and enjoy life at the River! We are also installing solar & a standby generator in September.
Our home is Fully fenced and gated, outside security cameras that monitor 24/7 for your protection. No cameras are inside our home.
We have a hot tub & large pool that we share with all our guests who sign our agreement of personal responsibility. Please be considerate of other guests who may be renting the cottage. We have a white board to reserve the pool in intervals so no one feels too close during this covid time.
If you desire to have more exclusive use of our pool, book this cottage for your maximum enjoyment and privacy. Use the link below to reserve the whole property!
The cottage easily can accommodate sleeping for 4 more guests by using the queen bed. The whole property together can sleep 14 adults easily.
Our property managers have a separate apartment on site to keep up with the various ongoing maintenance needs.
Guest Access:
You are renting the main floor which is accessible through the front door with a keyless lock. You can use the pool and enjoy the yard, the swing, the deck and the riverfront. These are shared amenities. Plan to only use the pool or hot tub exclusively for a maximum of 60 min intervals so other guests can enjoy these too. There is a laundry area available outside the kitchen guests may use. The basement utility area is private. Our pool is fenced and has its own lock. We require a signed personal responsibility agreement for guests to use the pool or hot tub.
The Neighborhood:
We love living on the Sacramento River. It's really pretty and you may even get to meet our local turkeys and geese as they stroll along the river. Anderson is a quiet little town in Northern California but offers many conveniences. Please respect our noise ordinance and make sure things quite down outside at 8PM. In the home, our quiet hours are from 9pm to 9am.
Anderson is the first town south of the Redding and very close to Bethel and the Stirring churches who hold many conferences. The Sundial Bridge and Turtle Bay in Redding are great places to visit. Anderson has a factory outlet mall and movie theater just a couple miles south of us. Shasta Lake has a boat ramp 30 min away for great times on the water. About an hour north is the beautiful Shasta Mountain. Lassen Mountain is just one hour east of on highway 44. Sacramento is about 2 hours south. Northeast is Burney Falls, and to the west is Wiskeytown Lake
Getting Around:
The river cottage just a minute East from Exit 670. From the exit turn East on Riverside Avenue, and then your first left on Alexander Ave. The River Cottage is at the end of that street where Story Lane begins. We are just past the Gaia Hotel and Spa. After you get settled into the cottage, you may want to walk over to the Woodside Grill for a fantastic meal. There are great walking trails along the Sacramento River in Redding with convenient parking at Turtle Bay nature center. Thats where our famous Sundial Bridge is located too. The Redding Airport is only 3.7 miles away and you may enjoy Shasta Factory Outlets or our Walmart 3 miles south of us at Exit 667. All in all, you will love how close everything is.
Other Things to Note:
The main floor is about 2500 square feet of usable space, so it’s a special place to stay if you and your group are in town for a conference or a wedding.
If you desire to hold special events at the Riverhouse with more guests, we can accommodate larger groups, but will need to make special additional arrangements and we have a different events oriented pricing and policy agreement. This listing is only for home-stay activities only.
Again, this is a NO SMOKING home, so please do not take any liberties in this aspect. We will have to hire professional cleaners with your security deposit if a smoke smelll remains in the house. We have guests and children who are very allergic.
Officially we are a no pets property but we understand many have service animals. Our cleaners charge an additional $99 pet sanitizing fee to help prevent allergies with future guests who have sensitivities.
Interaction with Guests:
The property managers have a separate ground-floor apartment unit on-site. Please call or text if you have any needs
We provide linens & towels for guest, and there should be enough towels for the pool and hot tub too. We have a guest laundry set up outside the kitchen if you need to run a load while you are here.
Guests in the cottage also have access to the pool and hot tub. Please be considerate and share the space.
Hannah and Jordan are the property managers who also provide safety and security. I will send you their phone number in a text or email prior to your arrival. Please reach out if anything comes up

Awesome location, right on the river. Huge windows that over looks the river, plenty of space to spread out with the family. The host put up a Christmas tree and it really added to the space. Will definitely consider if we go back to the area.
Such a relaxing time at the Riverhouse! Absolutely gorgeous location right on the Sacramento River. The house, yard and location are all absolutely amazing. All the amenities are right there, including a sauna! Parking is right at the front door. We lacked for nothing. I hope we can get back soon.
This home is amazing. Has absolutely everything you would need along with a perfect view and river front location. Spent the weekend here to attend a wedding near by. It was the perfect location and the entire family enjoyed our stay. Would definitely stay here again
Great place to stay with family and friends. The River front, combined with a beautiful house and pool makes this place the tops for us. We will be back!
The property owner has put together a smart place for working professionals to take advantage of a beautiful setting. Next time we are working in the area we will return, thanks.
We needed a place to celebrate Christmas away from home in order to accommodate my daughter in law’s work schedule. This house was perfect! The home is large and the view is beautiful! The owner even had a fresh wreath and a Christmas tree set up for us! So very thoughtful!
We rented this house for our two adult kids and grandkids, as well as for our niece and her daughter who are visiting from out of town. The house and cottage were very clean and well furnished, but the bonus was the view looking across the beautiful pool and lawn at the Sacramento River. Our extended family enjoyed a few hours each day cooling off in the pool and playing games on the lawn. The owner was very responsive to our requests and questions. We would rent this house again.
We had one of our best Christmasses at Rob&Allisons’ Riverhouse. Our hosts were very helpful starting from the moment we made our reservation. We found a warm welcome card and snacks when we checked-in. They even helped us within minutes when we locked ourselves out.
The property itself is also great with plentiful bedrooms (one of them is a very spacious master bedroom) and cozy common area. We loved the TV setup with a ready-to-use AppleTV. The gas grill and the wolf range oven gave us a lot of options for cooking. Overall it was a great experience for out group.

Mostly good
Owner lives next door, often seen. Guests in cottage also seen in the shared hot tub. Master bedroom door broken will not close. Bath towels found in closet, poor quality. Master bed duvet cover stained. Bathrobes poor quality. Too many beds in the bathroom. Second bath very small. Great view of the river! Nice wood floors ams kitchen.
Our family of five (including a young toddler and two other kids under 10) enjoyed a quick but wonderful trip to end the summer before school started. The house was spacious, clean, and well laid out. The pool was the highlight of our stay with a well situated backyard.
A few things to note;
- while not listed as an amenity (so my fault for not reading carefully enough), there is no access to the washer/dryer. As a parent with three youngish kids that caused mild panic but I had overpacked anyway so it was fine. But might be good to overtly note that in the listing.
- it was a much needed vacation so the cost was worth it for us since we hadn’t been vacationing much anyway, but note the extra charges. Extra nightly fees for over two guests even though the bed capacity is 6 (and even for my 2 year old toddler). I would have preferred a higher nightly rate than we surprised once I added all of the people who would be staying
Overall a wonderful trip at a lovely home with thoughtful and kind hosts!
Rob and Allison are fantastic hosts. The moonlight reflects off the river and shines into the spacious living area and master suite magically. It’s a special place.
The house is beautiful but has some minor issues. The view from deck is awesome, the house was clean, the pool was a good size, beds were comfortable. Owners were very friendly & our requests were taken care of right away. Some of the items that need to be addressed are 1) fan in bedrooms that don’t have one 2) master bathroom toilet is loose & would wobble when used 3)master BR bathroom sliding door would stick & hard to slide open 4)geese roam free on grass area so there’s major 💩 when walking down to lake 5) lakeside chairs & swing have 💩on them 6)pool table is not level & missing a ball 7) master bath shower door doesn’t stay closed 8) master BR exterior door doesn’t lock so house isn’t secure at nite or if u leave the property 9)no shower mats so tiled shower floor very slippery & dangerous 10) only 1 cooking pan, although various pots 11)ice machine not workin 12) an abundant amount of spider webs & huge spiders on patio chairs, deck railings, bbq area & bbq pit- we had to go out & buy spider spray, we were unable to make s’mores at nite due to spiders 13) found a tick on someone & later one inside one of our cars 14) owners have a pug (bug) that came around few times, even jumped onto one of us while we were out on the deck eating, we are dog ppl so didn’t mind, but not appropriate considering it says no dogs allowed, we weren’t expecting 🐶 15) ad says hot tub is one of the amenities yet few days before we arrived I got an email saying if we wanted to use it there would be a fee of $250 16) ad says house is for 12 ppl, yet theres an addition per person charge if you have more than 6 persons, we rented the cottage as well, it was clean & cozy, but only used it to sleep.
Property location is awesome and the scenery outside in the backyard is just amazing. Pool is in good shape and basics inside the home are good ! One small thing to improve is the general maintenance and cleanliness - like the patio furniture on the back yard grass need some cleaning up, the grill and some of the pans in the kitchen still had food scrapes from previous use
Enjoyed a scorching hot weekend up at the River House. Made a great home base for exploring Lassen National Park and Burney Falls State Park. The swimming pool was truly refreshing in the hot weather. Easy check-in, good communication with owners. Be aware that the swimming pool is shared with the other rental (the cottage on the same property). The listing was very clear on this, so we weren't surprised to find another family enjoying the pool with us. The kids are already asking when we'll be back.
Wonderful property with plenty of space for our group of 7 to spread out. Right on the river with a pool and tons of places to hangout outdoors and inside.
The Riverhouse has a beautiful view of the Sacramento River. The house looks gorgeous, the pool and hot tube are fantastic, salt water. The daily geese are lovely.
Now the other stuff. The neighbor with the pug is not friendly. I tried to introduce myself on day one and he wasn't interested. No one mentioned he would walk his dog through the property daily. He cleaned up the business but it didn't feel right.
The hot water was non-existent. The instant hot water was initially set very low. It was just above luke warm. The shower was more of a mist. The master bath shower was hard to operate and the shower door wouldn't shut completely. Also, the pocket door catches too often. The pool table isn't level. The light switches are ridiculously wrong and frustrating.
We celebrated an 80th birthday in the family there. We had family from Indiana, Texas and Hawaii come together for this birthday. It was great for the event. Truly beautiful. We played in the water, we grilled, we sat by the river and we dodged the sprinklers that must have turned on every 20 minutes. Most of us didn't appreciate it.
It's a beautiful place, really, but there are issues that need to be dealt with immediately like the lack of hot water.
