The hotel seems to be going through a bit of a refurbishment and the only person there was a builder who was told there would be guests arriving. Easily the best accommodation of a four-day stay in Northumberland. Everything in the Whittling House makes your trip a little bit better, from lovely staff to beautiful decor, homemade shortbread for the rooms to the comfy armchairs in the bar. Definitely worth the more premium price!
