VERY hard to find if you are driving, an absolute nightmare. The car navigation system couldn’t find the hotel. We had to pull off of the road, park illegally and use Google maps to walk to the hotel to ask for specific details on how to get to their parking. The room we were in was a small suite with sloped ceiling and a skylight (no windows). A special feature was a 200 year old stone tub which we used to store bath towels in as there were no hooks or rails. The lack of a night light in the room and multiple steps to get to and from the bathroom made us nervous. Right beside the tub the step down was about 1 metre high, which is potentially dangerous if you step down from that point in the middle of the night. Rather than risk breaking our necks we slept with the light on, which made for a very fitful sleep. I suggest that they put in a night light and put a glow in the dark strip at the highest point of the step.

A hidden gem in the quaint streets of Alicante
A very pleasant stay in a classical hotel retaining many original features. Staff were friendly and helpful. Room was clean with a balcony overlooking the street. Bit more shower gel would have been nice, but a minor grumble.

Quirky hotel in fab location
Beautiful rooms with comfort and cleanliness. Enjoyed every moment. The roof terrace with views of the church and the castle is a perfect place to end the day. Breakfast is good value and with many choices. Warm hosts. Hotel Monges is a memorable place.

Hotel next to a Food Kitchen for those in Need, can be worrisome, especially during supper, 7pm, but not at all. Roof top bar, great views, but no service, bar closed. Breakfast was good, but restaurant/bar next to lobby and not very inviting. Feels more like a hostel!!!

Really good hotel, already rebooked.
Lovely hotel with great staff. In a perfect position for exploring central Alicante and the castle. Surrounded by lots of bars and restaurants. Perfect hotel for a short break.

Excellent location. Restaurants at your doorstep. Walkable to all tourist sights including beach. Friendly and knowledgeable staff. Small room but efficient and comfortable. Hair dryer did not work, only realised on last day as not used it beforehand. Walls are kind of thin, if you’re a light sleeper might be a problem.

Super hotel.
It’s a lovely hotel. The hotel is a really old building. Beautiful architecture like the buildings around it. The staff were so friendly and welcoming and very helpful. We only stayed one night before our flight to the UK. It’s very close to the harbour and there are loads of cafes restaurants and bars close by. Good hotel. As we got out of the taxi someone said to us are you staying here . We said yes, he said it’s lovely. He was right.!

El hotel está bien ubicado y tiene todo lo necesario para una estancia cómoda. Sin embargo, mi cuarto tenía un techo muy bajo y no era cómodo moverse en él, igual, una ventana que no era cómodo operar. El lugar no tiene estacionamiento, y las instrucciones de llegada no son muy claras en la información de bienvenida. El personal fue un poco condescendiente cuando expresé dudas al respecto. El aire acondicionado no funcionaba muy bien para las altas temperaturas de Alicante.

The staff at this hotel were so friendly and accommodating! Guillermo made us feel like family and everyone was so pleasant! There was a festival going on during our stay so the city was lively from morning through night. Not much sleep to be had but this was no fault of the hotel’s…Spaniards know how to celebrate and have fun. Thank you for a great time in beautiful Alicante! We will never forget it!
