A lovely welcome from the team started our stay well. The room was really clean, cared for and well designed. The breakfast room had plenty of space and choice and the bar was so lovely, with a great choice of drinks and really beautifully decorated. I would definitely recommend this hotel.
During our entire stay in Iceland (so far), this has been the best hotel - professional, helpful staff, very comfortable and clean room, great bed and big pillows, clean bathroom, great location (near shops and restaurants) and plenty of free nearby parking
Wonderful place and very kind staff! The rooms are very clean and it’s in a great location to walk around. Unique and fun decor too. One of the best places we stayed in Iceland!
Location great service good room was very crowded no closet or hooks for clothes or space for suitcase

Liked: Cleanliness, staff & service, amenities
We had a great room, and the decor looked like a movie theater. Plus we had a guitar in our room which was fun. Very convenient location and comfy beds.

Liked: Cleanliness, staff & service
There was construction on the property that impacted entrances and was noisy early in the morning. Staff were great and breakfast was also great!
Unique hotel with walkable dining options and activities. Beautiful room with a guitar available!
Only downfall is that the room door kept being slammed by the main door.
Really cute hotel, nice location - very convenient for walking downtown. My only issue was the construction directly above our room and across the street that was very loud for the first couple hours we were there. It stopped around 5pm but started again around 7am. Good thing we were up early anyway, but not ideal if you want to sleep in.
Loved this hotel!!!
The Hotel Akureyri Dynheimar is a firm favourite; its charm and character have been preserved and enhanced by clever interior design choices.
The rooms are generous and very well-fitted. Our room had a large desk, a comfy armchair, a beautiful bathroom, and a king-size bed.
The heated timber floors were a nice touch. This hotel is designed for comfort, and I felt right at home as soon as I arrived.
The hotel's location is neatly sandwiched between the old and new parts of the town. The hotel itself overlooks the water and is within easy walking distance of everything you could need.
A lovely stop over, we only did one night here but I could have stayed forever!!
Hotel Dynheimar and Hotel Akureyri are operated by the same management. This review is for the Akureyri. This hotel has very cool decor! The lobby has funky and fun furniture, a nice bar, free pool table, and plays mellow tunes. Even the hallways have cool artwork. The included breakfast was good, and the restaurant fare is reported to be great (it was booked up a day in advance so we couldn't try it out tho). I would recommend that breakfast diners also consider carrying their plates to the nearby lobby to eat, as the dedicated dinning area is quite small and fills up quickly. The lobby is awesome so enjoy this option!
Tip:The surrounding area and town are very walkable, and there is a beautiful botanical garden at the top of the hill with an awesome cafe. Check it out if the weather is good!
Location of the property is very good right in front of
water. The rooms shown on Expedia is not the ones they give you, so that’s a false marketing. You pay the price looking at the room. When we checked in, we were being given rooms in their adjoining building which didn’t have the same view & probably not same looks & design. When asked for the rooms we had booked, we were asked to pay more & have been charged twice of what we were told. I feel if they have different types of rooms with different views they have to market it accordingly. They can’t charge me for
Gold & provide me with bronze. Felt cheated.
Reception staff was very friendly and willing to assist with any needs. When we got to our room, the window (ground floor) was open and there was a sewer gas smell. Staff thought it was from the outside and after closing the window, it stopped. We had a new guest punch in the key code and open our room. Not sure why they were given our room and code. No place to hang towels in the bathroom, only one bar on the door. Very small room which is hard to ascertain from the pictures. Double bed but one person has to crawl over the other to get out. Breakfast was nice but limited and in a very small room for the size of the guests the two sites hold. The lobbies in each site have great 1920s character. We were ok for one night but would not recommend more. It was great there was free parking and an easy walk to downtown and restaurants. No problem walking around at night.
This hotel was fantastic! The staff was super helpful and nice, and everything was designed so beautifully. Breakfast was amazing and even had gluten free options. The only reason for 4 stars was the noise level. We could hear people walking outside our window, and when anyone would close their door in the hallway, it was super loud. We also heard really loud construction hammering in the morning which was unfortunate. I would still absolutely recommend this hotel to anyone, I would only suggest that you bring earplugs with you. This isn't the fault of the hotel, it's just the way it's built. But honestly loved this place and would stay here again!
It was a very nice hotel and hotel room. The breakfast was extremely good! The only downfall was there was a lot of construction going on within the hotel and on the street of the hotel.
