Holiday Inn Express Klamath - Redwood Ntl Pk Area by IHG
10/10 Excellent
"The hotel is a great location within the Redwood National Park. The property was very well maintained. The restaurant/bar was good but closes early - I think by 9pm. The Casino was small but fun - we enjoyed spending a few hours gambling."
"The check-in kiosk was there when I arrived, but someone was using it and seemed to be having difficulty with it. I didn't have to wait long before a staff person popped out and took care of my check-in personally. Nice and friendly. The room was in fine shape. Clean and the refrigerator was running. The location is right next to hwy 101 at the base of the jetty out to Whaler Island. There are informal trails up the rock but they aren't officially maintained. Just across the jetty is Crescent Cove, a lovely shallow spreading beach with nice surf from the ocean and sand that is great to walk on. The breakfast bar was individually packaged blueberry muffins and a selection of granola bars, some apples, and - of course - coffee. All in all, an easy visit, a nice facility. I was on a road trip, just passing through, and had an enjoyable stay."
Riverview Clean and Cozy Home by the River - upstairs above office
6/10 Okay
"This was a great place to stay, but the vrbo listing is inaccurate. There is no AC, only heat. There is also no hot tub. We never saw or used the fire pit as it is on the other end of the RV park and not near vrbo itself. The vrbo does not have a washer and dryer in the room - there is a laundry room at the RV park. It costs extra to use the washer and dryer, and they accept quarters only. The listing says there are two bedrooms but there is only one bedroom with two beds, and one open kitchen/dining/living room with a pull out couch. The oven is missing the door handle so it was a little dangerous opening and using the oven. All that being said, my husband and I chose this place mainly for the location near the redwoods, and the full kitchen (and unfortunately the included washer/dryer). If the listing had been completely accurate, we still would have booked it, and I would be happy to stay here again if I ever revisit the redwoods. I did not interact with the host very much, but Vivek was always kind and helpful when I did. The shower is hot, the room is cozy, and the bed was one of the most comfortable I have ever slept in. Despite the inaccurate description, this was still a very nice place to stay during our three days in some of the most beautiful woods in the world."
"We stayed for 4 nights at this lovely home in Orick while visiting the Redwood’s, and loved it! If you are looking for peace and quiet, and views for days, this is the perfect spot! Bring your food, there’s no real options in that area, but we knew this ahead of time and stopped at Costco in Eureka on our way up. The lack of restaurants was more than made up for by the location. There’s a beach just at the end of their road that became maybe our favorite part of the vacation. It’s stunning and we had the entire beach to ourselves the 4 times we went over there. And we saw seals just chilling on the sand (with babies) two evenings in a row. The house is great, clean and nice and had great views of the green pasture and surrounding mountains and cows (no smell, just pretty views). Just at this house we saw deer, frogs, rabbits, birds, hummers, flowers and of course horses and cows. This house was the absolute perfect spot to head right into Praire Creek SP or Redwood’s NP, still a drive to the other two, but a beautiful drive!! The hosts were so welcoming and super responsive, though we only had one question (yes, they had a cooler available to borrow), otherwise we had everything we needed for our family of 4 (parents and two young adult sons). The hosts had lots of extra touches - spare rain ponchos, fooseball, corn hole, internet and tv, a high quality gas powered barbecue, all the kitchen supplies needed, and lots of chairs for relaxing inside and out."
