Fabulous and unforgettable stay in Stone Town
Staying two nights at Emerson Spice Hotel was such a memorable experience that I would happily recommend to anyone visiting Stone Town. The property itself is gorgeous; all of the walking tours stop in front of the hotel to point it out. Each of the guest rooms is unique and truly spectacular, and it was such a pleasure being encouraged to explore the unoccupied ones during our time there. The front desk staff was so helpful with everything from airport transfers, ferry ticket purchases, restaurant reservations, taxis, and laundry services. We loved the generous breakfasts on the rooftop each morning and thought that our dinners at the Tea House and the Secret Garden were both excellent. We weren't so lucky with the weather during our visit, so we were extra grateful to pass the time in such a beautiful and friendly hotel. Thank you to the entire team for making our stay so lovely.

The staff was welcoming and friendly. The hotel was clean and elegant. The atmosphere was perfect but the call to prayer at 5:15 was a bit disturbing.

The Emerson Spice Hotel used to be the Swahili Sultan's place. The rooms are beautifully appointed. Rustic furniture adds to the ambiance. My room was on the top floor which means 3 flights of stairs. The hotel is located on a narrow street. This means that taxis cannot come up to the hotel.

Great service, elegant & clean rooms, friendly & professional staff. They made our stay extremely comfortable and pleasant. The roof top breakfast/dinner experience was magical which we had meals in both hotels. There is no elevator in both hotels - so, it's a big hike. Will definitely come again!!!

It is a very nice old hotel which maintains the feel of past times. The only problem for me, as an old man with bad knees is having to climb more than 70 stairs to my room, the last part on very creaky stairs. The view is magnificent from the roof and the breakfast was excellent with a great variety of frutis

Our experience was amazing. The architecture is superb, the staff extraordinarily helpful and we had such an amazing time. The rooftop is breathtaking and all the staff is kind and polite. We want to return soon.

Exotic, Romantic Stone Town Inn
Exotic & romantic, Emerson Spice Hotel is what one would expect from an historic inn located in Stone Town. Personnel are professional, courteous, helpful and all speak english. They are also well-connected with reputable tours, tour guides & local activities. We felt very welcome here and enjoyed staying in the historic hotel with architecture reminiscent of Morocco. Unique in its decor, with each of the 10 rooms maintaining its own individual decor, you will not be disappointed if you're a romantic at heart. No TV & no phone in the room is a plus, in my opinion. Internet is sketchy due to localized modems, however, you're probably not staying here to keep in constant contact. Do note there are quite a few stairs for those who may have mobility issues. Also, like any hotel in Stone Town, you will hear the call to prayer from some of the 52 local mosques over loudspeakers. The hotel provides earplugs for this purpose. The restaurants in the "secret garden" and on the rooftop offer first-class dining options and drinks. Highly recommended, I would stay here again in a heartbeat!

The rooms were beautiful and the food in the roof top restaurant was brilliant!! The staff were lovely and so friendly and helpful. My only negative is that it was very loud at night. The first two nights we were kept awake by noise from the street- motor bikes, people talking etc. The hotel does provide earplugs but it didn’t really help for us

Very unique and one of a kind hotel in the middle of stone town. Surely you can settle for comfort and choose Hyatt but you can do that anywhere in the world. Emerson Spice is a truly exceptional hotel with a very attentive staff. You will be wowed!

Great location in Stone Town, very cozy ambience and nice staff. Fantastic outdoor bathroom. Not very practical, many floors and no lift, beds very hard for our European body. Hotel arranged band/music Friday evening, which unfortunatly disturbed many guests, as rooms do not have propper doors/windows.

Hôtel avec un charme fou. Tout le confort y est malgré l'âge du bâtiment. Les chambres sont très grandes et bien aérées. Notre chambre avait egalement une douche extérieure, un bonheur au coucher du soleil.Le personnel est efficace et souriant. La nourriture y est egalement excellente. Il faut absolument essayer le repas 5 services au roof top de l'hôtel. Allez- y, je le conseille fortement.

Et fantastisk valg. Resturantene tilknyttet hotellet er utsøkt i smak til helt ok pris. Lokasjon veldig bra, det er også mulighet for å betale for bruk av svømme basseng på et nabo hotell rett ved. Spør i resepsjonen. Sjåføren til hotellet er en mann med stor kunnskap om historie og en historiefortelling i seg selv å sitte på.
Vi spise her i Secret Garden flere ganger. Det er ett av de stedene i byen med best mat
