“Just Fantastic”

Fantastic Hotel (old but beuatifull ) , excellent place, fantastic team, Fantastic Food, Fantastic city, Beautifull people. Don't miss!

Area recommendations

Take the tourism bus for one day, even if you have a car, to understand the city first. Than enjoy it. The great cafes all over with very good prices , restaurants, culture, and it's beautufull and very nice people. Don't miss the hotel bistro food & wine.

“A comfortable respite with pricey food”

We spent a single night at the Regent Esplanade after arriving by train from Budapest. The hotel is a very short walk from the train station, and we were greeted by the solicitous, amusing clerk with an offer of a cold beverage, much appreciated on a hot August day (we chose champagne). The hotel is in great condition and our room was spacious, comfortable and clean. The bed's mattress was a bit firm for my tastes. The hotel's Wi-Fi worked immediately with no hassle. My only complaint - and it's a slight one - is that breakfast the next morning, while tasty and served in a pleasant dining room, was a bit more expensive than it ought to have been for what it was. The basic continental breakfast was under $20 USD per person, but adding a made-to-order omelette doubled the bill - a fact noted only in relatively small type on the breakfast menu, which we admittedly overlooked. The neighborhood around the hotel is a bit barren in the evenings (except for the activity around the train station) but it's a 10-minute walk or 5-minute tram ride to Zagreb's main square. All in all, we'd recommend the Regent and would stay there again our next time in Zagreb.

“Classy Act”

A beautiful hotel that makes you feel at home and comfortable. Well-located and with a helpful staff. The decor is Art Deco and the rooms are roomy and have plenty of storage. Bath is a delight, internet was fine and it's an easy walk to the town center. Champagne (on the house) is always available at reception.

“Exceptionally good...”

We live in the Middle East and are spoilt for choice, the Regent Esplanade is superb, fantastic service, very friendly staff, great housekeeping. The hotel has an "old-world" charm to it and makes you feel like you are taking a trip back in time. It is well located - a five minute walk from the centre of the city. We plan to go back soon.....

Area recommendations

The city centre - aka Flower Square, this has quaint cafes and great eateries. We were fortunate to see the Croatian guard on horseback riding through the city

The Churches and Cathedrals around Zagreb and the fruit & veggie market on a Saturday.

“Fantastic hotel with great location”

Right next to the Zagreb main train station, the hotel is so beautiful maintained. facilities are superb. service at the front desk and restaurant are outstanding. particular the restaurant, probably the best service i had during my europe trip. only walking distance to the main square and old town. you should also visit the national theatre area, many nice buildings. Botanic garden only around the corner. One of the best hotel in central europe.

“Truly Elegant”

Stay here. It's almost everything you could ask for in a hotel. The food in the main restaurant could certainly be improved but everything else about the hotel overcomes that shortcoming.

If you see an item on the menu of the main restaurant that says, "curried oysters in a can, (Yes, "Can"!) take note. I didn't and was shocked, shocked, that it was accurate. They came with a fish I don't recall and the dish should be avoided at all cost. Even with that experience this is a great hotel.

“Zagreb luxury”

The Regent Esplanade was a delight from start to finish. Prompt, efficient and helpful at check in, washed down with a glass of bubbly. Our room was very spacious and comfortable. The bathroom was very well appointed and large. The location is very central and museums and the old town were just a quick walk away. The hotel set the tone of our visit- very charming city.

The Old town was charming- and we found a very authentic croatian restaurant in the back streets.

“Best place to stay in Zagreb in spite of cost.”

I would recommend this hotel - it was luxurious with wide hall ways, tastefully decorated rooms. But the cheapskate in me would not recommend eating in the restaurants in the hotel - very pricy, as was the bar. However we stayed only 2 nights, the first leg of our journey and the comfort level was much appreciated after all that traveling.

Area recommendations

A must-visit place is the Market near the cathedral. It is open every day (at least every weekday, not sure about the weekends). All the umbrellas used to cover the various tables of foods, fruits, flowers and knick-knacs are of the same Croatian design & colors! Very picturesque with cafes &/or bistros along the parameters of the Square with the locals watching you and vice-versa!

“A truly grand hotel without the stuffy service, or overinflated price”

I couldn't recommend the place more highly. The staff were wonderful, it is pristine and the rooms are big and comfortable.
