“Minimalistic,but functional and efficient”

Minimal,modern decor,but highly functional,clean,and efficient. Front desk acts as reception,check-out,and concierge,so staff is always busy,but nevertheless very helpful when approached. Great location for walking to city's attractions. Underground parking garage, accessible by the hotel's elevator, is very convenient for those arriving by car,since near-by street parking is a challenge.

Area recommendations

If cost is no object,a hotel closer to Jelacic Square would be closer to attractions.

Getting there

Driving into Zagreb and finding the hotel was a real challenge,even on a Sunday afternoon,when we drove in. In hindsight,I would have driven to the airport,dropped the rental car off,and taken a taxi into the city to the Arcotel Allegra.

“Stayed there twice, would go back”

We stayed there are the beginning of our stay and the end of our stay. The neighborhood around the Arcotel was not that great. People are not walking around there at night, though there were a number of people eating outside at the caffe in the mall next door. There is an amazing street art museum across the street outside, but taking pictures at night was probably not a good idea. Inside, however, we found the hotel to be clean, service was helpful, and breakfast was tasty, with actual healthy options. There are 2 computers in the lobby for guest use. The gym was fine, though not extensive by any means. Actually, I would say that the hotel is less like other places where we stayed in Croatia. I found that service was often lacking in other hotels, restaurants, and stores, and it was a relief to return to the Arcotel. Staff are attentive and helpful, and reception staff all speak excellent English. I liked the decor of the room, tasteful with some accents. Double beds pushed together. Few toiletries are provided. A decent mini-bar with fridge. A safe for your use at no charge. I did get annoyed having to use my card to press the button in the elevator, but no big deal.

Area recommendations

We got tired of the downtown area. We enjoyed ourselves more once we asked directions to a restaurant that is less touristy, and I have no idea where it was, but it was called "Kariola," I highly recommend it. The neighborhood around the hotel isn't great, with loads of graffiti, but the street art museum is awesome.

“Not too bad, but with some major problems”

Arcotel Allegra Zagreb is a hotel that aims to provide higher quality of service. However, that does not come easily. Although the rooms are decent and the breakfast is above average, the quality of service is something they need to work on. A few examples: they failed to wake me up as requested!!! Early check-in was not available until after 1 pm, even though many guests left the hotel before 8 am. The spa area is partially operational: both steam and dry sauna were out of order as well as one out of three jacuzzis. There was no one to assist customers on weekends. Some receptionists were polite and courteous, some were not.

“Not for business people”

Hotel is not well managed. No internet facilitity for laptops despite it being advertised and staff do not seem to care. Lobby coffee shop service is poor, tables not cleared and it is difficult to locate staff.

“Excellant Design Hotel”

Close to the airport shuttle bus terminal (10 minutes walk) and within walking distance to the heart of the old town. Good modern design hotel with excellent breakfast and top notch service to match and good value for money.

“Stylish, friendly; wish it was closer to old town”

We enjoyed this hotel, but found that most of what we wanted to see and do was about half a mile away, by the main square or old town. Still, a lovely hotel.
