“When Only The Best Will Do”

Everything in the Shangrila Xi'an reeks of quality. To my mind the best hotel chain in China.

“Terracota Scape”

Excellent hotel where you can scape china crazyness while visiting Xian. It is a little far from the old city.

“Great Value Hotel”

Hotel was best I stayed in in China and also chepaest possibly because in Xi'an while others were Beijing and Shanghai. Everything was excellent except the coffee, although the location, well out of town, is not ideal for the tourist.

“Excellent hotel”

Registered at the "horizon floor" (executive) - very smooth. Upgraded to a Shangri-La suite. Very plush and luxurious, Horizon floor definitely recommended. Excellent breakfast variety and nice display for on evening cocktail hours. Personnel very friendly and helpful. The hotel itself is outside of the city wall, which in my opinion is a plus - less traffic jam. Definitely recommended!

“Excellent base to explore the Terracotta Warriors”

Good quality hotel, especially to see Terracotta Warriors which are about 20 miles away. Don't miss the Xi'an city walls either.

“Friendly staff and lovely hotel”

We would definitely recommend this hotel and suggest taking their private tour to Xi'An. The guide was just lovely and spoke English so well.

“Good hotel but dont be fooled by the "luxury package"”

Booked luxury package for two nights and paid the additional charge for two nights. Luxury package offered choice of three extras: airport transport, massage or discount for dinner. I expected that for each night stay I could choose one of those three, but no, only once per stay. Next time I book one night the luxury package rate and the other night(s) the cheaper normal rate. At least they were honest at the reception when I asked for the rationale behind this: "This is better for our revenue". For the rest, good hotel with friendly personnel and good restaurants, but far from the city centre.

“Professional but impersonal”

If you want to feel "at home" this is not the hotel for you. The girl at the check-in at the Horizon Club was unfriendly. She is definitely not the right person for the job. The hotel uses old technology push-in key card. After checking into room, we went to a beautiful dinner in the cafe. The staff here are VERY friendly and courteous. After eating Chinese for 2 weeks my husband and I opted for Western dinners. I ordered a chocolate cake for dessert. The waitress returned and apologized that the dessert was not available because they had no toffee topping. Twenty minutes later, she returned with not only 1 but 2 freshly cooked chocolate cakes (tasted great without topping) and 2 fruit platters.....AND no charge to the account..now that's service! Overall this hotel is very beautiful and still worth the stay. Like other reviews it is out of the tourist district, but good access to the airport. It also has a great French Patisserie (located adjacent to hotel 2 blocks facing outward from Shangri-la) that also makes coffee with "real" cows milk. Make sure you grab a copy of the map from your room.

“NOT a way to keep/delight their own club members!”

Very poor customer service for a Shangri-La Club member - desired to stay an additional night during a low period (no conferences, no special events) and hotel would not honor reserved rate - insistent on charging more "just because they can" - this is a dreadful approach to customer and consumer loyalty.
