“Much better places to stay in Vilnius!”

We spent two nights at this hotel in late May. The hotel rooms were very Soviet like and so was the service. The first night was unbearably hot in the room and although they assured us that the air was on and they would send someone up to the room we suffered through the night. The next day they admitted that the compressor had been turned off but someone would "fix" it that day. We did have air that night. The walk to the edge of Old Town is about 35 min and the area around the hotel is not a great neighborhood to be walking around. The breakfast lacked coffee for about 15 minutes one morning and bread the next. To experience Vilnius we recommend staying in Old Town or much closer.

Area recommendations

The KGB Museum is unlike any other occupation museum that we have seen as it was in the quarters of the KGB and active until the late 80s. In the basement are the cells, torture rooms, and the killing room. It is a very touching recreation of the occupation times. We found the 2 hour city tour with an English speaking guide most informative, It was in a small van and she added a lot to the very informative narrative. It took you around the city beyond just the Old Town.

“Good Vilnius hotel”

This is a good Vilnius hotel. Very modern building and facilities. Professional stff with excellent proficiency of English. Location is ok, walking distance to old town and other interesting areas of the town, still very quiet and outside the nightlife buzzone which some people might find anoying. Can recommend this hotel for both younger people out for the partylife and more grown ups looking for a quited place to stay.

Area recommendations

Old town and city squares are nice, Usepiz is a bit overrated. Never mind the modern part of the city. Please take into consideration that my review is based on my visit being during winter.

Dining

Opt for the "old" places in basements! They are cosy and traditional, and serve proper food from the area.

“Great value”

Europa City is a great, modern hotel not far from downtown Vilnius (15 min walk). The service was good, the room was clean and comfortable, and the buffet breakfast was tasty. The location was a bit strange as the hotel is located next to the highway.
