The location seems a bit unsafe if you are coming from developed countries but is the opposite, there's a lot of people and even families so we felt very safe all the time, even late at night after 10pm. The location is great as you have paya lebar train station, for just 1,7sg you can go to anywhere, even marina bay or gardens by the bay, so don't waste money using grab. The station is juts 10min walking located in a very developed shopping mall, so you'll have everything you need close to this location. The building is a bit old but the rooms are big, also the bathroom, good shower pressure and hot water, not just warm as other hotels. They change towels every day and provide water. Also the super king bed was enough for 4, 2 adults and 2 kids. All good in this hotel. Recommended.

This is a gem place to stay. Not first class but affordable. Very good accommodation from Manager,Nico to all staff. Thanks much. Will share with friends going there. Keep it up.

Get what you pay for.
Very dated, rust and chips in the enamel in the tub. Holes in the bathroom ceiling. Stains on the ceiling above the bed.

I have rated this property excellent. For the money, this property cannot be beat. The transport links into the CBD are good (don't walk fast during the middle of the day to the MRT-you will get sweaty). But it is a 15 min walk with buses right around the corner.

Very tired property in need of urgent renovation. Torn linen, chipped bathroom. Not even 2 stars advertised as 3 stars. Only 3 hangers for 2 people, nowhere to sit when the room was advertised as having a chair and a stool. The room was a decent size and could easily fit advertised furniture. Staff is very unresponsive. The room meant to have slippers, but non provided. The only positive is location. Walking distance to MRT, plenty of dining options around.

Great location for quick access to the local food shops along the roads and the hawker centers at Haig Rd and in the Serai Market. The hotel is a no frills one however it's well maintained and clean for a 3 star hotel.

The floor of toilet was wet. The air conditioner had water leaking problem. The chair in my room was broken and was being taken away without any replacement. The only one washing machine in the hotel was out of order. The sound proof of the room was very bad…very noisy at midnight and early morning.

When i made the booking and what made me do it was the price and also the fact that they had CABLE TV, however when i got there they had only 1 channel in english, when i complaint to the manager, i was given a feeble excuse about covid but no CABLE TV. I spend 5 days there and will NOT ever book this hotel. they are misleading.Do not believe anything HOTEL 81 advertise,its very misleading and too late when you have booked online . Pity its a good location.Disapointed

הוסטל מלוכלך מהעולם השלישי
מלון מאוד ישן, בלוי, שבור ומלוכלך. ריח נוראי. לא מבינה איך משרד הבריאות לא סוגר אותו... בכניסה הלובי נראה נחמד, אך ברגע שעולים לקומות החדרים נפתח בפניך העולם השלישי, ריח נוראי, רצפה דביקה, ריהוט בלויומלוכלך. פשוט אין מילים... אחרי טיול של חודש זו הטראומה שתזכר לי

Classic favourite.
A Singapore classic. Huge rooms. Brilliant location above a Muslim food court and 50m from a secular one. 5 mins walk from PLQ. More practical than Fullerton or MBS. My first choice every trip.

Room with a bed.
This was probably the worse hotel i stayed in. The bathroom was nasty. Bugs, no hand towels, run down, shower head not for anyone over 5ft tall, loud ac but the room was big.

Some of the senior hotel receptionists are extremely rude. Mr. Nico (at the front desk) asked me very rudely to bring the keys from the 5th floor while we were waiting for the cab, after the check out. Furthermore, the front desk staff was mostly in a bad mood throughout the entire stay. Poor value for money in terms of customer relations.
