“Suite 401 with outdoor bath is great!”
Great room, small but adequate, suite 401 with outdoor bath and shower is fantastic. Khiels products, Nespresso machine, funky chairs.
“Funky little hotel in Chinatown”
Enjoyed my stay here. Rooms are small but very clean. Staff very helpful and attentive. Ideal location for Chinatown and wonderful eating all around location. Will stay here again.
“Small but nice!”
Small but clean rooms. Once your luggage is inside there is barely room to walk. Great if you are only going to sleep and take a shower. If you need your space you will want to stay somewhere else. Also, the noise at night can be a little loud but dies down around 2am. A quick solution to this is to go out and join them! Staff is excellent and extremely friendly! Very close to two MRT stations (subway). Only a five minute walk either direction. Hotel is near Chinatown and hundreds of awesome restaurants! I recommend the steam bowls!
“Small but in the right area with friendly staff”
Room was extremely small and cmpact, but I expected and was prepared for this
“Small Rooms but Well Appointed”
First the downsides: Rooms are very small, but understandable due to the type of renovation undertaken to create this hotel. Depending on where your room is situated it can be very noisy, caused by kitchen ventilation system, with the morning start-up noise being louder than any alarm clock. The lobby adjoins the breakfast room and I wish they would not "hoover" the lobby whilst guests are eating breakfast. This happened every morning for the 5 mornings I spent there. Upsides are good breakfast buffet, great location, well decorated and everything you could possibly need packed into the small room.
“Small but clean and very good value”
Rooms are very small but that was known when we booked. Personnel were very friendly and helpful. Location was great. Free Wi Fi is great. Free breakfast is awsome. Free water and sodas is the final nice touch.
“Great Location, Very Clean, Good Service”
Would definitely stay here again. Very reasonable for a very clean room with great location (outside of the center of China town, but close walk to 2 subway stops). Rooms and bathrooms are small but adequate. There is a Hindu temple down the block that has ceremonies around 7:30 in the morning where music is played. If you are a very light sleeper, this might not be good for you, but I thought it added a lot to the experience and I enjoyed going to the temple in the morning!
“Boutique and Unique”
The reason why I chose 1929 in the first place was for the unique design sense and I had really wanted to explore the hotel a little more. Conservation of space and the bold use of colour & specific furniture pieces made each room unique. Sadly, I didn't get an opportunity to do more than look at the lobby and didn't get to visit the outdoor deck area with jacuzzi. I had a single room, not extremely spacious by western standards but it was uniquely designed interior to create sufficient space for everyday activities. The shower was see through and allowed a sense of space. The wall shelf served as coffee table, desk and underneath - storage area for kettle, mini fridge and amenities. Under the bed was storage drawer with a safe. I love the provision of a ipod/iphone charging dock / radio / alarm. I can understand for certain travelers the room might not be very spacious, but I sincerely recommend the experience. I'm sure the double or queen room and suites would be bigger. The location is great - about 2 blocks from the Chinatown MRT & less than a block from a great kopitiam (food hawker centre). Made it really convenient for late night snacks, except I was there on a specific weekend when they closed for 'spring' cleaning!
“Will Stay There Again”
Beside the small bed, everything was according to my expectations. The staff were great, I enjoyed my stay at this hotel. Definitely I will stay there on my next trip to Singapore.
“Singapore, Chinatown's Best Hotel”
As mentioned previously, nothing to complain about. Highly satisfied despite the size of the room, not a lot of people would be comfortable in such a small room but for us it was perfection! The room we stayed in included tv, a/c, WIFI access, mini fridge for a few drinks, alarm, coffee/tea maker & a oh so lush bed that made waking up hard to do. & not to mention the people, they weren't lush but they were super AWESOME! Very nice! I can't wait to go again! I don't think service can get any better. Modernism all over this place & for a design student, like myself, it's heaven in Singapore.
