"First off, it's an amazingly beautiful historic hotel in the heart of downtown L.A. They don't build hotels like this anymore, other than maybe the Grand America Hotel in Salt Lake City 25 years ago (which is an anomaly because the owner at the time, Earl Holding, built it as a monument to himself with zero regard for a true R.O.I.—Big Oil money plays by different rules).
The Biltmore is exquisite, a throwback to another time. We scored some really amazing prices via one of the online websites (which we sometimes dislike, but at times you can get a really solid deal.
The architectural details are incredible, from the moment you walk in you feel like you're in a palace. The hotel has all the major amenities you need: on-site restaurants (our package came with comp'd breakfast buffet every day, which was great), pool, gym, etc. It's just nice to sit in the lobby and soak in the atmosphere.
Lots of cool old photographs from when the hotel hosted the Academy Awards in the 30's and 40's. Overall, just a really outstanding hotel."
