“Great hotel”
This hotel was wonderful. The service was fantastic and the people were extremely helpful and friendly. The food was very good too. It is located in a great little town and I would love to go back. The only thing that I didn't like was the bed was two small beds pushed into a large one which made it kind of uncomfortable. Other than that it was perfect!
“Great pool”
Lovely hotel, however the distance to the centre of Taormina was alot further than we were led to believe, it takes about 15 mins in a taxi but it is all uphill, so you can't walk it.
“Giardini Naxos”
This is a professionally managed, efficient hotel. The food is well priced and excellent. We went at a very "off peak" period for this area and on evenings when we did not want to search the local area for an evening meal, we ate there and it was fine and inexpensive for 2 adults and a child. The shuttle bus to Taormina at 10.30 am was also used and saved 20E in taxi fares, although you need to make your own way back by bus or taxi (15E).
“perfect short break hotel”
I booked becasue of the many favourable reports and these were confirmed by our stay. The room was a reasonable size with a day bed for my 10 year old and a good size bathroom. The breakfast was very substantial - we didn't eat in the hotel apart from that. Pool was lovely - it was busy of course but it was peak holiday time. Mainly italians here. Free shuttle up to Taormina was very useful.
“.Quiet location”
We cannot fault the cleanliness of this hotel. Most of the staff were sufficiently polite and helpful with the exception of one or two members of the restaurant staff. Dinner in the restaurant was overpriced for what it was almost like canteen food and for all the fuss they make about their restaurant the choice was minimal. Its fairly formal status did not coincide with its food. The courtesy mini bus is ideal to get to Taormina but I found the driver a bit rude, he is ok if you are italian!! I was made to pushover to accomodate a woman who had not booked her seat thus meaning we had no seat belts in the back seat. Do not be fooled that the hotel is in Taormina it is in Giardini Naxos which is tatty with barely any pavements but it is traditional Sicily and is far cheaper than Taormina with so much character. The public bus service is very good and cheap and regularly goes to Taormina and back, do not get ripped off by the taxis. The hotel is up a fairly steep hill so if you have problems with walking you may struggle. On the whole an adequate four star hotel but the area is tatty.
“Impressed”
The hotel was very clean and comfortable and the hotel staff were friendly and very helpful. The indoor and outdoor pools were clean and well maintained. We really enjoyed the buffet breakfast in the morning (plenty of fresh fruit, yogurt, cereal and pastries)but we didn't enjoy the hotel lunch and evening menus and with so many good restaurants on the sea front there really wasn't a need to eat in the hotel. We think that this hotel is a good base for exploring the surrounding area, apart from the really good restaurants there wasn't much to do in Giardini-Naxos.
“Very Enjoyable stay”
Lovely stay at this hoitel definatly worth trying to get a room that faces over the pool as the view is great. the rooms were clean and staff very freindly and helpful. The free bus to taromina is also great. Did not try teh restraunt as there was a lot of local ones, if you stay here get the etna transporti bus . if stayed in sicily again would defo head back to this hotel nice big pool to cool you down!
“Had a lovely stay here staff were extremly helpfull and always made to feel welcome.”
The hotel is about a 5-10 minute drive uphill to Taormina which cost about 15-20 euro in a cab 1.50 on the local bus or the hotel runs a free shuttle a couple of times a day. Hotel was spotless the only down side that I could find was there is no tea/coffee facilties in the rooms and I wasn`t greatly impressed with the dinner time menu or food but with so many great resturants around this was never a problem! A fantistic swimming pool and a basic but good gym. I would definitely stay in this hotel again and the beach in Naxos is one if not the only sandy one that we came across! A beautiful place to visit and Yes I would definitely go back again!!
“Lovely hotel”
We were really pleased with this hotel. The room was very comfortable and clean. The staff were very friendly and helpful and most spoke excellent English. Having such a nice hotel really helped to make this holiday special. The hotel is set back from the beach by a short distance and the area immediately around it does not look particularly friendly but we were there 10 days and never had any problems. I would not recommend the hotel lido on the beach. If you are prepared to walk for 10 mins along the front there are some much nicer, sandy free public beaches. Giardini Naxos itself has several restaurants. There is an archeological site to explore at the other end of Giardini but little else. If you want more to do Taormina is accessible by bus which goes from the railway station which is about 5 mins walk from the hotel. The buses are cheap. You can not walk to Taormina as it is up a very steep hill! If you want to explore Sicily itself we would definitely recommend hiring a car and the hotel has a secure car park. All in all we fully recommend this hotel. Really can not find any major flaw with it. But if you have the money to afford an equally nice hotel and you want more to do in the immediate area it is probably worth looking in Taormina itself.
“Lovely hotel, good value”
We stayed at this hotel on our honeymoon for 11 nights in July 08. It's an excellent hotel with very plush reception and communal areas. The pool is lovely. There are spa/gym facilities though we didn't use them. The rooms are not huge, but have comfortable beds and satelite TV which has BBC worldwide and 2 sport channels. The level of cleanliness is very good - there was one day when the maid hadn't cleaned our room when we came from the pool, but on request it was cleaned straight away. The continental breakfast buffet is good, particularly the coffee. We only had dinner in the restaurant once but it was very nice. We found the location of the hotel ideal. It's at the quieter end of Giardini-Naxos, which is a little run down, but offered a truer taste of the real Sicily than the far end, which was more touristy. The beach is great, and just five minutes walk from the hotel. Be careful of jellyfish which appear for a couple of days during the mating season, they are harmless but their sting is painful, as my wife discovered. Our favourite restaurant along the sea front was Da Lino.

Area:
Taormina, Italy: A balcony setting on Mount Tauro with a sweeping view of Sicilys coastline and Mount Etna gives Taormina its lasting appeal. It is Sicilys only truly international resort, much-favoured by celebrities. The old quarters steep, narrow alleys are filled with window boxes and painted pottery, and best explored on foot. Main sights are the classical remains and Renaissance palaces. The Greco-Roman theatre is still used for concerts and festivals.
