“couple visiting maderia from brighton uk”

all I can say is that we had a fabulous time at the hotel. could'nt fault a thing. the staff were all pleasant and attentive. the hotel was in good condition and kept very clean. we only had breakfast there, but could not fault the service given and the abundance of food available. thank you too all the staff at the pestana village garden resort for making our short break a very enjoyable time.

“a very pleasant stay and "Madeira Needs You!"”

easyjet were as we expected - the usual scrum - but on time and friendly. we had quite some difficulty finding the hotel in our rented car - if we had been on the airport transfer system this wouldn't have been a problem of course. first impressions were v good - our sort of place, ie a bit more traditional than say the new pestana promenade which we felt was like a corporate hq. we prefer to be quite independent on holiday which is why we book thru expedia and then arrange our own tours etc. madeira was different and all we hoped. some evidence of the floods and visitor numbers quite a bit down on last year. but this is no reason not to go.

“Room with a view”

this hotel is set in fantastic gardens just a 20 minute walk from Funchal town centre-Staff were very helpful and friendly. Choice of food at breakfast was amazing and tasted wonderful. We had a superior room with a wonderful view of the sea. We would thoroughly recommend this hotel to others.

“I would love to go back”

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this hotel, the staff are helpful, the buffet breakfast is wonderful, lovely garden and location. A bottle of wine and a note from the General Manager was sent into our room on my husband's birthday during our stay, we were so delighted.

“Outstanding Hotel”

Stayed here for one week. From arrival to leaving the experience was excellent. The building is set in absolutely beautiful lush gardens with all manner of tropical plants (including banana trees!!) The staff were simply superb - very friendly and helpful. The hotel recognised that it was my girlfriend's birthday during our stay and that morning we got a special table, champagne breakfast and a birthday card - all complimentary. The room was clean and comfortable, the pool, pool area and bars were spotlessly clean and well run. The only slight downer was the lack of air conditioning but in reality it didn't detract from our enjoyment. Highly recommended

“Highly Recommend”

Hotel set in beautiful gardens and set back from the road. Excellent cleanliness in hotel with plentiful food of a very high standard, though evening meals a bit pricey compared to local restaurants and no room service at night. Handy to local shops and restaurants and within walking distance of Funchal centre - although return journey is all up-hill. Kitchenette in room handy for preparing light snacks, salads etc. Well stocked cupboard with full sized kettle, crockery, pans etc. Two ring hob. Perhaps not right for older children and teenagers as most guests either couples with young babies or older people. Hope to go back one day!

“beautiful hotel with good service”

Great stay - amazing grounds, beautiful pool area, fiendly and helpful staff, great breakfast, good rooms. We had a room in the lowest price category in the main building so there wasn't anything particularly fancy about it but it was relatively newly decorated, bathroom had a powerful shower (not always a given) and a bidet, and kitchenette with big fridge was a bonus. Not so sure about the quality of the evening entertainment (mediocre singer at keyboard doing evergreens)... the winter garden area with bar and fountain is a nice little place though. Tried an evening meal at the hotel restaurant once and it was good but expensive. We (30ish) were one of the younger couples in the hotel but it didn't feel like we were 'too young' (have to admit though that we definitely weren't the singer's target group!). It's a good place to be.

“Excellent spacess room - quiet and great service!”

Much better than expected hotel. Room was quiet, clean, well serviced and spacess. Excellent bars and pool area. Staff were very helpful - some were extra specially helpful. Main part of Funchal is 25 minutes walk but lots of restaurants nearer to hotel including the hotel complex restaurants which were all good.
