Great stay, great price!
At first checking in seemed a little impersonal. Combination locks and such to open boxes for the keys etc. but I was checking in quite late as arrival had been very delayed. However messages to the host were answered quickly. However Christina was present the following morning and was very friendly and accommodating. The conteninental breakfast buffet was excellent and had lots of options and she even cooked porridge for me, which I was very pleased about. Breakfast for £6 in London is amazing! The room and ensuite bathroom were very clean and there was secure parking in the back for my motorbike - also very much appreciated in such a busy area of London.

Worth a try
The building is still being renovated but the staff are friendly and helpful. The onsite (£10 per day) parking (outside of the congestion zone) is really useful and the location for the tube into the centre is great.

BEDS! Please change the BEDS!
Firstly, I'd like to say how much I appreciate the staff that work at The Windmill, they are lovely, always with a smile and can't do enough to help. Secondly the room we stayed in (double room, en-suite) was clean, a little small but that doesn't matter, the decor was probably a little tired (only 1 of the bedside lights worked) but, again that's not an issue. Now, and unfortunately, thirdly, the bed...oh my goodness, it was bad, the mattress was very thin and old, you could genuinely feel every single spring. I have seen other reviews saying something similar, unfortunately I can confirm the bed we had was disgusting. We ached from head to toe in the morning, after very little sleep. Quite simply, if the owners had bought a new mattress when others had pointed out just how bad it is then there would be no issue at all and I wouldn't think twice about booking this hotel, unfortunately I can't see myself booking to stay here again.

Worse then boarding school! Told to stay in room.
Went on a Friday night with my partner to have a romantic dinner and to have a spa. At check in we were told we could only get room service as there was a prom in the restaurant. I furthermore wanted to go for a walk in the garden but got told by security to go back in. And that it was out of bounds due to the prom. Even though it was indoors and the the garden wasn’t near it. In summary got told to stay in our room. We asked for a an hour extra to check out and the manager walked away when we asked. Nothing short of terrible.. could have been nice. Offer a little something for closing the restaurant or better yet… let us know before heading to the middle of nowhere to be told to stay in our room!!! Horrible, stay away if your a couple.

Cheap stay
The place is a bit run down but fine if it’s purely to get a shower and get your head down. Very noisy due to being on the main road opposite Wetherspoons . Lady on the reception was very pleasant and helpful.

Given the price, I'd say a great place to stay. The room was clean and the sheets were a good hotel quality. The floor was parquet, not carpet which was wonderful! I had the cheapest room which meant that my personal bathroom was on the hallway instead of my room. The shower was a bit broken and I wasn't able to change the water temperature so a minus for that. There was also an incident in the morning when the fire alarm started blaring and no one was there to turn it off. It took 20 minutes for the staff to arrive. They were very apologetic and said it hadn't happened before. I won't blame them for it. It's a bit of a walk to the closest tube station but there's a bus stop right outside the hotel. I took a bus that got me to Oxford Street in 40 mins. A good deal I'd say because I got to see more of London from the bus and didn't have to change. All in all, a well kept questhouse in a lovely old building. Price and transportation options are very reasonable.

Will definitely stay here again
I was a bit worried when I read some of the reviews after i had already booked. On arriving in my room though I was happily surprised. The room was nice and a decent size, everything was very clean, there was tea, coffee and biscuits. No problems with the shower temperature or pressure. The bed was a little springy, but still very comfortable. There was no desk, but that wasn't an issue for me. Will definitely stay here again in future.

I would give 0 out of 100 if possible. I do not recommend anyone staying at this garbage place. When I arrived at the place the door was locked and no one was there to receive the guest. After waiting and knocking the door for 10min in this cold weather I decided to look up the number for the place and call. Luckily I was able get a hold of a human after 10 min. During the conversation i was able to get into the place with just a pin code and I was told the room numbers and the doors were unlocked and the keys were inside. This has to be the worst hotel I have ever stayed. The rooms and bathrooms were not clean at all. The rooms had cigarette smells. The beds were very uncomfortable to sleep in. The next morning someone knocked at my door mention that check out time is at 11am which i would have known if someone was at reception the night before. After they knocked at the door they forced us to get out with a 10 minute warning to clean up everything and get out.

Firstly the positive reviews have to be fake, me & my partner could not understand how this place got any good reviews it can’t be real reviews, I imagine friends & family done fake reviews it’s the only reasonable explanation. And I’m aware it’s a budget property & I’m used to that but this was below par even for a hostel it would be. I would avoid this property, very difficult to get hold of staff had a few issues. The woman who answers the number provided doesn’t really understand or speak English & kept hanging up or not answering. The bed was TERRIBLE, very thin mattress, could feel every spring, bed had a big dip in the middle of mattress & was very noisy every movement. Not the greatest area to walk from station to & from, it’s a bit of a scary walk due to the area. I don’t usually leave reviews but I believe this place needs some honest reviews

The property was okay for the price we paid. However we had a bad experience with one of the staff member. As there was no one at the reception for the check in we call the number provided. The girl on the phone gave us the code to enter and the room number over the phone. We got to the room ( top floor with no lift ) we check and there were no key to lock the room. I called again the girl over the phone … she kept saying it was there and then she changed the story saying that the previous customer thrown away the key. I told her that I understand but I need the key as we can’t leave our luggage and personal belongings unattended. She then said she was coming to the building. We waited for around 20 min in the room and no sign of her. I called her again and she is telling she was downstairs. We went downstairs and she started saying that she needs to look for a copy of the key. If you know you have a booking coming you should be ready with the key. Anyway except for the key experience the location of the hotel is great. Not too far from Kilburn and Willesden Green.also there are a lot of shops and pubs nearby.

Do not book this hotel/bb as not as described.
Stained mattress of very poor quality. Unclean room. Staff had tried to do best but very old redecoration and poor standard. Water leaking in from roof in communal areas. Damp smell. No staff on duty to check in. Had to wait for hour for key to room. Does not comply with advertised information. No restaurant next door for cooked breakfast. All staff off site.

I am sorry to hear that you did not enjoy your stay, and I can assure you that this will be passed onto management and we will fix the leak in 115. Unfortunately, as a result of covid, we had to turn to self check-in/check-out but we try our best to have staff when possible and have been looking into solutions to solve this issue. With the key, the previous guest had lost the key and as this was very last-minute, it took us a while to get to you with it. I do apologize for the inconvenience, and we tried our best to get this to you ASAP. In regards to the breakfast, the Windmill restaurant has gone under new management and has had a completely new refurbishment, and opened for the first time yesterday. With this in mind, so thankfully, in the near future we will be doing breakfast again. Thank you for flagging this all up with us as we are always looking at ways that we can improve your stay. Again, true apologies from us and we wish you all the best. Please don't be afraid to contact us so that we can deal with this further.

Staff nice and helpful, hotel was dated and smelled musty, leak on upstairs floor, room was dusty, dirty and shower cubicle broken. Towels and bedding had stains on them. Was woken up at 1.30 am by loud reception phone or doorbell, could tell which it was, then it went off again at 2am. Noise of other doors banging and bumping around and footsteps on wooden floors not good. Carpark was free so another positive and opposite a Wetherspoons for meals and breakfast.
