You can tell some updates were made to the property and while staff were courteous for the most part there need to be some staffing adjustments made to ensure a better stay. For example, we asked for a 7am wake up call because our tour left at 8am. The wakeup call NEVER happened. When I brought it to the front desk person I asked to schedule said call he said he changed shifts and left a note for the colleague. There was no apology. Nor, did a manager reach out.
Example #2, the main restaurant with the only bar in the hotel is NEVER fully staff. There is one individual who does the bar, takes orders, buses the tables, serves and customer service. As a result, wait times are extremely long. If you find an empty table it may not be cleaned and it may not get cleaned for at least 1/2hr. The first few days of us being there rained heavily. So, there were times we had to depend on them for meals.
Room service is almost non-existent. They leave early. So don't depend on that either.
The selling point for the Occidental is it's location. They have prime real-estate in Ljubljana. They are perfectly situated walking distance to and from the river, countless restaurants, shopping ... The central railway and bus station is only a 20 minute walk or a 5-7 minute bus ride.
