"Stayed 1 night while visiting family in the area. Very clean bedroom & bathroom, comfortable bed & appreciated the quality hairdryer & straighteners Not a fan of the boiling water on tap in the corridor. Would much prefer a kettle in the room & the privacy to make a hot drink at any time of day or night. Didn't appreciate having to get dressed at 3am to go out into the corridor for boiling water to make a drink 😕"

The Gainsborough Bath Spa

"The Gainsborough is a fantastic hotel and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. It's location is perfect for the Roman Baths, Abbey and all the other sights. Parking is in a small private car park next to the college so make sure you drop off your luggage at the hotel and speak to concierge who will help you with parking. Check In was simple and we were greeted by friendly staff. Every member of staff we came across including the cleaners were super friendly. Our room was spotless and a good size. I booked a deluxe twin and I will miss that bed. It was super comfy and we had a great nights sleep. Due to in room telephone being down, the minibar was complimentary which was great. Soft drinks and water which for us was perfect. The bathroom was clean and tidy. There are plenty of facilities on site which unfortunately I didn't have time to make use of so that's my reason for planning another stay at this wonderful hotel in the not too distant future. I'd highly recommend anyone thinking of visiting bath to stay at this hotel, you won't be disappointed."

"Great location, however the idea of being awoken earlier than anticipated by faulty air conditioning. This triggered the in room gas leak detection alarm, which the on site staff responded to quickly by turning the air conditioning unit off. Silenced the alarm, but turned a/c off, and we were the up w hours earlier than anticipated for early departure, which was the reason for staying close by. Appreciate these things happen and grateful for alarm, however presume ac had not been serviced."

"Check in was not very good. Hotel is not very visible and I could not find any big boards outside either. After 30min of wandering around the hotel and asking quote a few people, I managed to find the hotel. But after that, stay was perfect. Reception staff was helpful, it's a clean hotel with big size rooms and modern looking toilets "

"The room we booked was spot on until the water failed in the bathroom, there was no water at all after a hour going back and forth talking to reception and staff they said they had found another room two floors up and we could use it's bathroom and keep our room, after some more discussion we said we would move to that room as going back and forth for the bathroom was not practical. When we got to the room it was very poor dust everywhere TV remote taped together and a TV that kept freezing never did get it to work, just one chair to sit on and it looked like it had been thrown out by a charity shop, the bathroom was not suitable as we need a walk in shower, due to the delay in moving us and sorting out our problems it was now to late for us to go out and we still could not get washed, we cancelled our plans for the night. I went back to reception and asked if this was the best and only room available in the hotel and was told that's all we have got, I at this point lost the will to live, I just collected the key cards for the room and handed back the temporary one they had given me. In the morning the manger offered me a discount on another stay or a small refund, what a joke tha staff at night did not have a clue about what they should do or could do without a manager approval. I would never stay there again even if you paid me."
