“If only it were in Stresa”

Cannot fault this hotel for much: the cleanliness and friendly staff were beyond reproach. We were room only , hence our room was on the ground floor with no lake view but no complaints as you get what you pay for. Great pool with plenty of shaded areas.Had breakfast a few times at 15 euros per person (not the 20 euros as stated on their web page) not exactly a bargain but convenient for a few organised trips. On most days walked down the hill to a wee place named " Coffee Time " which I would thoroughly recommend. Two teas/coffee, freshly squashed orange, 4 croissants for 12 euros in total as opposed to 30 euros at the hotel. Perhaps not everyones idea of breakfast but it got you ' fuelled up' for the day ahead. Overall a great time at a lovely hotel. If it could be transferred to Stresa it would be even better. Best restaurant we ate at was the Posta in the small square. The worst was the Nationale to the right of the square. A disorganised shambles is the best way I can describe it. You can only pay by cash as they have no credit card facility. The receipt you get is akin to the old slip from the Co-op : a list of costs for the various foods you ate but that was it. No breakdown of what you actually had . Without sounding patronising , elderly people who have difficulty retaining what they have had will not be able to comprehend this unacceptable practice in this day and age. It was like a 1950s diner. Not recommended.

“Well worth a visit”

The hotel grounds are lovely, great pool and plenty of sun lougers and outdoor tables where you can soak up the sunshine.

We stayed for 4 nights in July 06, and we've nothing but praise for all aspects of this hotel's operation. Accommodation, service and food were all superb, and the hotel provides a marvellous mix of formality and friendliness - not the easiest thing to achieve. Worth every penny we paid.

“Great Friendly place to stay”

Have just come back from spending 4 nights there and we were impressed with the friendly,english speaking staff, good restaurant food both at breakfast and dinner,clean and comfortable rooms. The fairly newly renovated hotel was easy to find, has a nice garden and a great swimming pool. A wonderful position for visiting all parts of the lake both by car and boat.

“Wonderful Stay”

We were very pleased with our stay. We have 3 children and we all fit nicely in two rooms. We went during Spring break and the pool was not filled. But, they let us use the indoor pool next door which was also nice. Wonderful breakfast, beautiful views.

“Old world charm and elegance”

Old world charm with friendly, efficient service characterises the Hotel Simplon. From the grand entrance to the chandeliered dining room to the understated elegance of the cosy leather armchairs in the bar. We were just sorry that mid-week at the end of September, there was no-one to tinkle the ivories of the white baby grand piano and that the weather wasn't good enough for more than a paddle in the swimming pool. We felt thoroughly spoilt and well cared for.

Lovely hotel in beautiful gardens, restaurant with lovely views and fantastic food. We spent 3 nights at this hotel and the staff made us feel vey welcome. We would certainly go back again.

beautiful lake view room with superb amenities within the hotel. had a great three days stay. Hiring bicycles is a great way to get around the lake. Staff were very pleasant. will definately visit again!!

“Hotel Simplon, Baveno (August 2007)”

The standard of this hotel is absolutely superb. The staff are extremely friendly and helpful. Avoid the rooms in the villa annex if possible as these are a little noisy with passing traffic. The quality of the furniture and finishings are excellent and are maintained in pristine condition.We would thoroughly recommend this hotel to anyone - we will return.

“Wonderful Hotel !”

What a find! The Simplon was just marvellous. Great staff who were helphul and friendly, graet location, close enough to town centre to walk but still in a peaceful relaxing area. Food was(bed & breakfast ) very good, lots of choice and we never had to wait no matter what time we arrived in breakfast room. Baveno was beautiful and would recommend this area and hotel for a perfect holiday.
