“Everything you'd expect from a large four star hotel and a little more”
great location at the port of Baveno (passenger only) on the lake. One of the only hotels that has gardens adjacent to the lake so the most fantastic views of the lake are uninterupted by the road and its noise. Great pools and spa facilities.
“Elegant Luxury”
From the sweeping hotel lobby to a vast breakfast buffet this hotel has an elegance missing from modern hotels. Staff were all extremely helpful and the dining room staff were excellent. Situated on the lakeside a two minute walk to the ferry terminal or to family restaurants. Only negative were the beds which are very firm in European style. Rooms large, well equipped and fantastic lake views. Highly recommended.
“Vacation in Italy while on vacation”
I highly recommend - fabulous lake view!
“Would love to go back anytime”
Nicely situated on a beautiful lake. A perfect spot to get away from your every day stress.
“Grand hotel”
It really is a Grand hotel, was affraid it may be past it best but i was proved wrong. The large very warm indoor swimming pool made it a very pleasant at a cool time of year.
“Could be great, but ruined by poor customer service”
Sadly I simply can't recommend this hotel purely because of it's attitude to guests. The hotel is set up for coach parties and conferences with a "you get what you're given" mentality pervading it's service at all levels. In general the staff were offhand and surly. In the resteraunt the serving staff were often simply rude. The food is good, although beaten for both quality and service by more reasonably priced places to eat just a couple of minutes walk away. The feeling in the resteraunt was stack 'em in, feed 'em fast and you'd better not ask for anything as that interrupts the smooth running of the operation. Only the bar staff made us feel genuinely welcome, the rest of the staff either ignored us or made us feel we were hindering their important business with our unreasonable requests such as ordering drinks with our evening meal or wanting to check out at the end of our stay. To cap it all with no warning to the guests affected (at least 30 rooms) a party was held for a conference right outside our balconies. It went on until midnight with very loud live music. Even with the doors closed and security shutter dropped it was impossible to sleep. When we complained the exact quote was "what do you want us to do, they are there now and we can't stop them". If all you want is a hotel with good facilities, nice rooms and fabulous views to use as a base for exploring the area then this is a good choice. If you want any sort of customer care, go somewhere else.

Baveno, Italy: Famed as a spa and health resort in the 19th century, parts of the historical centre of this pretty little lakeside settlement date back a thousand years. There are modern spa facilities in town. The shore road to Stresa is delightful, flanked by grand hotels and villas including Castello Branca where Queen Victoria stayed in 1879 with views of the Borromean Islands.
