“no air conditioning”

the hotel is located in a lovely spot , right on the water, also has it's own pool. The rooms were hot but they did us a fan which helped. The bathroom was awful, the tub is very difficult to get in and out, very high off the floor, the shower sprays, all over the floor. We just had a standard room and it was very small. The breakfast was great, the resturants along the walk were very good

“make sure to get the Francais”

This is an enormous hotel with several classes of rooms. The only acceptable is the so-called "Francais" or super superior room, which has king size bed and looks out (obliquely) onto Lake Balaton. Other lesser grade rooms are dark, small, and unpalatable. Please note the hotel has NO airconditioning, no hair dryers. They don't change sheets during a 3 day stay. However the breakfast buffet (included) is generous and delicious. During our stay, there were not less than 5 buses outside so if you're looking for quaint and quiet this isn't it.

“Annabella Hotel - Balatonfured”

The hotel has not had a proper refurbishment probably since before the communist era! The staff though friendly do not speak much english and are not exactly knowledgable of the surrounding area. The bath rooms are like nothing I have ever seen before with a common tap serving both the bath tub and the wash hand basin and are painted in this vile colour; I have photos to show should anyone be interested. Oh, by the way, you cannot be too short otherwise your chances of actually getting into the bath tub are very slim or impossible without the use of a stool or step ladder. The sheets were not changed daily and the TV's in the rooms date to pre history. It is unfortunate in that the setting is beautiful and Balatonfured is actually very quaint and well kept. A really great place but be prepared to use your phrase books if you do not speak Hungarian or at least, some German.
