“Very comfortable and welcoming”
Very nice old manor, turned into a very comfortable high end hotel, with good service and very friendly staff. Food quality very good, wine list a bit on the shorter side, but good selections a very reasonable prices.
“Great place to get away from it all”
We were married there 9 years ago and wanted to go back for our anniversary. The reception welcome was warm and friendly but unfortunately that couldn't be said for the experience we had in the bar. The barman was unfriendly/unhelpful and actually made us feel ill at ease while we were in the bar. Apart from that, the room was lovely and we really enjoyed the buffet breakfast the next morning!
“Will certainly consider when next in area.”
I used the pool, sauna, steam room and was happy with this although not the biggest facilities at a hotel.I also ate my eavening meal in the cocktail bar and had a great bowl of soup and burger and chips. Far too much and couldn't finish my meal. Ample to eat for beakfast and plenty to choose from.
“As we expected”
The hotel was everything we expected it to be. A lovely old building which was reflected in the rooms. We were given a very large room which was however, very dark. We asked for another & were accomodated straight away. The hotel food is good and the staff very helpful and polite. I would stay there again. The only downside is that the mattress was hard, but we slept on the duvet and just kept the sheet and coverall on us. We were plenty warm enough and comfortable.
“Don't stay here!”
The hotel claims to be a 4 Star hotel and even displays a 4 star plaque from the Scottish Tourist Board at the entrance. I visited a Scottish Tourist Board office. This hotel is not even registered with them. In my opinion it would just merit one star. I obviously used to be a fine hotel but is very run down with worn out carpets and peeling wallpaper. As an example of what to expect; the worst coffee I've tasted in years at the 20 pound breakfast is served in a cafetiere, but it is pre-made in the kitchen!
