Just a wonderful apartment with great accommodations and beautiful grounds. We really enjoyed the day, evening, and night views from the porch, and although we spent most days at various beaches felt the drive was well worth it, for the beauty of the spot and the cooler temperatures at night. The kitchen is well equipped as we made numerous dinners and almost all breakfasts at the apartment. Very happy to find coffee, bread, jam and chocolate waiting for us when we arrived. The Gardner was very nice and picked and delivered fresh fruit from the grounds the days he worked. These included bananas, limes, lemons, oranges and a tomato or two. We also collected a coconut and a papaya from the road just outside the gates. Our daily adventures took us eventually around the island from north shore to Hilo to Volcano National Park to south shore, we enjoyed them all and felt like the property was centrally located and coming home each night was comfortable and easy. We also rented MTB and road bikes from Bike Works in Kona and rode a fantastic forested trail up Koloko road and out route 11 along part of the Ironman course. The turtle beach accessible from the port harbor was a favorite spot as our son did his first snorkeling there. We loved two step for better snorkeling as well as Hookena beach for a secluded afternoon beach experience. We day tripped to “Laupahoehoe” beach on a stormy day and saw some great waves crashing the rocky shoreline and ate at tradition Hawaiian s
Street food vendors in Hilo. the house came will more than ample beach towels and a variety of snorkel masks and fins. We have used VRBO over the last decade for annual vacations across the country and this ranks with the best of them,. We’ll be back.
