Lovely Hanalei Hideaway

magical every time
This property is a return visit for many years. The deck is the main enjoyment and you could sit there all day and read and watch the ocean, or just walk down to it. It is close enough to town, especially on a cruiser bike. I will be returning every year! Managers are very responsive and friendly.

We think we had the best spot on the beach. We grilled out many nights and enjoyed the boogie boards. The beds are comfortable and the house is equipped with what you need for the week. The walk to the beach is easy and the actual beach spot is perfect.

Perfect Beach Shack
Such a perfect vibe to be in this “rustic beach shack” as I like to think of it. Small and simple with everything you need and nothing you don’t it seems to fit right into the landscape with its faded turquoise presence echoing all of the green tones surrounding it. Yes, the paint may be peeling off a bit, but that’s the charm. You sort of feel like you are a local here in this dwelling as so many places work so hard to be so desperately opulent while this place fits right in to the vibe like your favorite pair of faded jeans. The huge lawn is amazing and the covered patio is the perfect place to take in the sights and sounds of a rain storm. We hope to be back.

Still My Favorite VRBO of All Time
My husband and I stayed at Na Hoku for the 5th time this year, and it remains my absolute favorite VRBO. Hanalei is of course delightful, but this house makes it perfect. The house has a lovely functional layout with all the amenities we need, but the lanai is what keeps us coming back. We usually come in winter and so storms are to be expected on the North Shore. I *love* having a meal on the covered lanai while it’s pouring rain, watching the surf and listening to the geckos. And if it’s sunny and warm, the lanai catches the breeze off the ocean to keep you comfortable. It really is paradise. This year, I also appreciated the several upgrades to the house (furnishings, fans, etc) that have been done since our last visit. If this place is available, book it! Just leave a week or so open for us each year…

It was like staying at grandma and grandpa’s house - and we loved it! Very comfortable and made you feel at home. The view was AMAZING! I was able to sit on the porch and work while on vacation… every time I looked up from work I was able to see the beautiful water and beach!

Great property
Location, location, location! So lovely to be beach front, and we loved the beach on Hanalei Bay. We stayed in late December with huge waves--so fun to watch. We were lucky to have mostly sunny days and temps in the mid 70's. Great location for hiking in Na Pali. The house is exactly as advertised: two clean bedrooms, one bathroom, kitchen with everything you need, great lanai with great views. Furnishings and finishes are simple, clean, comfortable, and perfect for a beach stay. We visited the south of the island and Lihue area--beaches not nearly as nice as Hanalei Bay!

Great stay in Hanalei
We had a wonderful stay, house was as described in the listing. It was great having a covered lanai to watch the waves, especially in the rain. It was a short walk across the lawn to the beach and the walk into town was quick and quite well lit at night. Any questions I had were answered via email quickly. My husband and I would stay here again in a heartbeat.

The location is fabulous and the management company is great. However, the bathroom door does not shut, the kitchen came with no foil, one roll of paper towels, two cotton kitchen towels, and we were told if we wanted more paper towels for clean up to buy them ourselves, and we were told to buy TP as well. Additionally, the TV in the bedroom has a one inch vertical brown stripe down the screen, the remotes are wacked out, the bathroom flooring was damaged by water, instead of removing and replacing the flooring they screwed down a piece of aluminum stripping to stop it from curling up. The bathroom is like my old building college rental bathrooms. The location and the lanai is outstanding, but for the price, you can provide some items like TP, two rolls for a family for a week? The solar lights on the stairs do not work, and if you need to walk up the stairs in the dark, bring a flashlight, especially if it is raining. People at management office are very nice, and we have rented three homes on Weke Road, and I can do rustic, and we lived in the South Pacific, so it is not as though we need everything all perfect. They just can give a little TLC and attention to detail to make it just fine.

The crash of the waves
You can hear the crash if the waves from the bedrooms. The porch is deep enough to keep you dry and a stroll across the lawn gets you to the beach. It’s a ten minute walk to restaurants and shops. What else can you ask for

We rented this property for 9 days and it was perfect for us. It felt like home except with a gorgeous view of Hanalei Bay and Mountain View’s behind the house. Hanalei is a quaint town with good restaurants and a grocery store. My husband rented surf boards from the local shop and had great surf every day. We hated to leave this jungle paradise.

Fantastic!
Great location and just what we needed. Spent more time on the deck and beach than inside. House had everything we needed and more. On warmer nights the fans were perfect. Walked to town for coffee in the morning, cocktails and food in the evening. We will absolutely be back!!

BEST LOCATION EVER
We vacation in Hanalei every August if we can, and of all the properties we've enjoyed over the years, this is our favorite! The hale is a little dated, but totally authentic – old-school Hawaii as it should be. Where it shines above all others is it's quiet, serene setting right on the beach. No ka oi!

Unbelievable Hawaiian experience
If you don't really like resort holidays but prefer to have the freedom to organize your own experience and live in a beautiful setting, this place is perfect. It's right on the waterfront with a gorgeous lawn between the house and the beach. The house is at one end of the gorgeous sandy beach (with 2 lifeguard stations), away from the hustle and bustle of touristy (but quaint) downtown, which is still walkable. The 2nd floor lanai is especailly nice with cool breezes and full ocean view. Amenities were perfect. Location overall very accessible to all attractions on the North Shore of Kauai. Paradise.

The view and the lanai!
We throughly enjoyed ourselves at NaHoku, the bed was comfortable, we went to the beach every day and we walked to town a couple of times. It was so quiet and relaxing. The only thing we would recommend is adding another lounger to the lanai.

Great location and great view
This was our first time staying on Hanalei Bay. We loved the location, the view, the accommodations and the property. We stayed in the upstairs unit and spent more time on the deck than inside. It was great to watch the surfers in the waves from there. The accommodation was comfortable and in the Hawaiian style. The kitchen was well stocked with pots, pans etc. The location was ideal, having just a short walk to Handley Bay/beach and the little town of Conway. There was a big lawn in front on which you could play frisbee and other games. We plan to return each year.

Beach Front Near West End of Hanalei Beach
Place was clean and as described. Porch was nice. It hasn’t been renovated in awhile. No dishwasher. Had beach chairs, cooler, boogie boards and volleyball. Beach not crowded. Nobody sitting near us. It rained frequently, usually every hour. It usually didn’t last long and would clear before the next brief shower rolled in. Outdoor shower did the job and is heated. The laundry is coin operated and located 30+ yards away.

Could not have asked for a better spot to stay while on the North Shore. Amazing view across lush lawn steps from the beach. House is clean and well outfitted....owner was great communicator. Only complaint is that we had to leave ;) We will be back for sure!!

Hanalei Bay "Old Hawaii"
Fantastic property on the shores of Hanalei Bay with great "Old Hawaii" feel. Great location for ocean sports with shore break steps away and great surfing a short paddle. Hanalei location is fantastic with mountains on one side and the ocean on the other. Spent a lot of time either at beach or on lanai watching the ocean. Property very clean and hosts were responsive and very accommodating. Overall great spot for me, my wife, and my adult children. Nothing but great things to say about this property.

Great location, great house and great hosts
Spent four days in Hanalei Bay - the property is right on the beach. Spent every morning sitting on the 2nd floor deck drinking coffee and watching the waves crash on the beach. Our flights home were changed due to Covid and our hosts were very accommodating. We are not “condo/villa” people, so this house has the charm of an old time Hawaiian cottage. Would highly recommend.

Loved the cottage on Hanalei Bay! Enjoyed exploring the area, walking, swimming and snorkelin nearby
The property was exact as advertised. Everything was good quality and loved the view from the porch! Lots to explore on the north coast from this cottage. If we come back to Kauai we would definitely want to rent this cottage again!

Great stay in Hanalei
Absolutely loved this rental. Top floor of a two story beachfront house. No one was in the bottom half for our entire stay. The upper unit was a little more expensive, but the higher view was worth it. The huge, covered lanai with a dining table was where we ate all of our meals. We could hear the surf all through the house. Nice living area with views on three sides and TV that we never turned on. Fully stocked kitchen, two bedrooms and one bathroom. Ceiling fans and extra standing fans available as there is no a/c. Worried a little about staying in Hanalei during the rainy season, but it turned out great. Rained some everyday but there was plenty of sun for hiking and swimming. Probably would not have had the entire house to ourselves in the summer. There were some extra management and insurance fees that made it more expensive but that may be normal for the area. And the house was worth it. I would definitely stay again.

beautiful scenery, but too hot to enjoy without AC
This area was too hot and humid to be without AC. There are ceiling fans inside but that did little to bring relief for this upstairs condo. There was no ceiling fan on the porch, so even being outside was pretty stifling. I did not expect that in October, and there were no trade winds at all. We had paid for 7 days, but took the loss and left after 3 nights, and booked a nearby hotel with AC for the remainder of our trip. If it had have been a cooler time of year (Jan?) perhaps this would not have been an issue. The neighborhood is pretty run down, and can be noisy. We were lucky with our downstairs neighbors who were quiet folks, but we could easily hear conversations from there downstairs porch when we were in our living room. If you happened to get folks either downstairs or in the nearby rentals that like to party (and you do not), it could be pretty miserable. You cannot beat the view and I enjoyed walking on the beach that was not crowded at all near the north end. Swimming was doable at the south end near the pier. Kitchen was very small with no ice maker or dishwasher, and older electric range. Safe was only usable for a fee that was a new on o me), so I never tried it. The listing description does not say there is an AC, but as far as I know, it does not say there is no AC. the humidity and lack of trade winds make that a big deal.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay as this property is the perfect antithesis to large resorts. Hanalei is peaceful, the property has an older comfortable cabin feel, the stars bright, and the beach view is heavenly. We had everything we needed except some trade winds during an exceptional heat wave (it happens). If you go, make sure you hit The Hanalei Dolphin fish market for fresh Mahi-mahi. We'll be back.

Quiet, quant and just what we wanted!
This is a quant two bedroom house that was perfect for what we wanted. It is quiet and away from the resorts. It is located about 2 miles from the shops and 5 from the golf/resort. So if you need something it was close! Just what we were looking for!

Primo spot on Hanalei Bay
We LOVED Na Hoku, the location can’t be beat, with large lawn stretching to beach and surf. Perfect for water sports, beach activities, being lazy on the lawn, or lanai, from where we could check out the size of the waves and watch the surfers. Everything was tidy and stocked, Hope to return in a couple of years
