Despite checking in online earlier that morning and advising of expected arrival time, I didn't receive the code for the lock box and all attempts at contacting the host failed, no response to phone calls or text messages, in fact the host declined my calls on numerous occasions. "I booked last minute for a cycle event in the area, the directions were easy to follow, if you screenshot them as advised, phone signal is poor to non existent (bliss) The Meadow View Hut is clean cozy and well appointed, the fire burns very warm so one of the provided logs at a time. If you can’t be bothered with the hassle of the fire, the heating is plenty on its own. Falstone is a great staging post for Kielder Forest, and there’s plenty of adventurous things to do near by, endless walks...

Wish we could have stayed longer
"Stayed for one night, on our way back down from Scotland. Had a lovely time here, and wished we could have stayed longer. Arrived around 6pm, very easy parking and checking in to our room. Then had a lovely meal downstairs in the Penny Blue restaurant attached to the hotel. Food was served very quickly, and the staff were attentive. The room itself was excellent, very spacious with a comfortable bed. It did get a little warm in the night for our taste, but they had a fan available which helped. It’s an apartment hotel, so came with a very well kitted out kitchen. Great for self catering, but we chose the breakfast restaurant downstairs. They did us a nice poached egg breakfast. Perfect location to explore the town centre, cathedral and castle. We checked out at 11, and went to explore the town. Reception staff were very friendly and helpful, no problem applying the parking discounts later in the day. Note that the car park can get very busy, it was pretty much full when we loaded our suitcases at 11, and when we left a few hours later. "
