“Relaxing and yet very active!”

A brilliant place - staff were fantastic in organising daily activities and evening entertainment. Excellent place to skuba dive with a wonderful team leading this. Very well set up for kids - beach is stunning and good variety as you could always be out of the wind. Food - good selection and variety - service always fast and not on 'fiji time'! A great place for a holiday.

“Mana Island”

Beautiful spot, good accommodation, full of young families with kids, taking advantage of kids club and creche. Food was disappointing. Resort and beaches great.

“Mana Island with kids”

Stayed in the economy accommodation: island bure. Hotel kindly looked after my request to have 2 additional single beds placed in room to allow myself and 3 kids to sleep in the one room. Made things cosy, but was enough room. Unfortunately Island bures are shared with another family or couple on the other side of the wall. Is fine if you have considerate neighbours. Sadly we did not! Requests to reception to allow us to move were not met as hotel was fully booked. Made for a few broken night's sleep. Showers were a challenge, especially for the kids. Run hot water for 5 mins and wait for it to turn hot, which it did, scaldingly hot and as soon as you added cold water, to make water warm, water went completely cold. Quiet challenging, but interesting. Another guest revealed their shower the same, is this the Fiji way? Hotel staff so friendly and helpful. Buffet breakfast and dinners were enjoyable and the added bonus that your children 12 and under ate for free made it very attractive meal option. Sadly with buffet we saw much waste and over-eating. Beautiful beaches, very clean. Snorkelling excellent once you allowed for the tide to come in (which for us was after lunch.) Not far from beach. Night time entertainment was excellent and varied. Kids loved the older "kids club" set up on the second last day of our stay. The staff noticed many "older" kids who were too old for the young kids club. The Fijians serenading us at dinner and breakfast was such a lovely touch.

What to pack
Swimmers, mask for snorkelling that fits (and your kids), snacks for kids (in between meals). no fancy footwear, ground is uneven and paths are very sandy.

“Awesome stay in Mana island”

Friendly staff, Excellent service and Beautiful beach at Mana island. Very busy and lots of tourists (Incl Day tours) but very satisfied. Just going into the water and you will see most of the fish we saw at another island. It seemed not natural though (reef is too close from beach). Sunset Beach was really beautiful and quiet. (was like a private beach because only two of us in daytime there!!) Bus access was not scheduled on that day but Ms Natsuki took us there by buggie kindly, otherwise 30mins walk one way. Singers were nice too. We requested the song "Over the rainbow" during dinner and the singer promised to ask his friend to sing the song for us next day. We missed out to see him at dinner time and was a bit of disappointment. But you know what?? While we were waiting for ferry to leave, we heard the song behind us!! The singer was better than original. It was a great surprise!! Although F&B staff was not that friendly and service was average, ths staff from Guest relations and porters exceeded out expectations. We had a very special and precious experience (cannot tell you what though:P) thanks to Sami in GR. If you have any inquiries, just go to see Sami!! He is the most helpful and friendly staff in Mana. Overall, we had an awesome stay and do recommend Mana island resort & spa. We will definetely come back in the future!!

Area recommendations
Amunuca island. It is a new resort and sorrounded by beautiful beach. Reasonable price compared to Tokoriki island next door but excellent service, friendly staff and delicious food. F&B is a little bit pricy so recommend to take bottles of water and beer with you from Nadi if you are a big drinker. Bestest resort and we will definetely come back too!!
Getting there
Better book Island Resort Connections through South Sea Cruises from/to Port Denarau. You can book at Mana one day in advance as well. Connection between islands was a bit complicated. They do pick-up from some islands but not from Amunuca. We needed to arrange a speedboat at Amunuca at a fee.
Events and shows
Activities at Lounge every night. We missed out Fijian night (Fijian traditional Kava ceremony) as it was on Tuesdays and Saturdays. Better check the activity timetable before book if you stay only for 2 nights or so.

“Great relaxing holiday destination - be there in Sydney winter next year in a heartbeat!”

You can't go wrong by booking a family holiday at the Mana Island Resort. The moment you step foot on the island, you can't help but relax. The staff are amazing, free babysitting is a bonus and the beaches are to die for. Unwind and tune in to the island way of life...

Getting there
Don't be disheartened when you are attempting to book transfers to the island from Nadi airport. In true island style, the resort don't update their pdf with transfer options very often. ie be prepared to realise that there are no longer any small planes flying to Mana Island! Some stopped flying there in 2008 even! The good news is that the helicopter company - Island Hoppers - provides the fastest, most exciting ride and it is even comparable with the speed boat option (10 minutes v 45 minutes) in terms of price. Don't be put off by the small amount of luggage that they advise you can carry on board (15kg each) as in reality, they are able to take as much luggage as they can depending on the number of people on board the helicopter at the time (in terms of maximum combined weight) and if there is any excess, then there is an arrangement for this luggage to travel to the island via boat!

“Never take an oceanview "Upgrade!"”

When we arrived at Mana we got a free Upgrade from the bookes Island Bure to an Oceanview room! We stayed there one night. It was dark, you could smell the moisture from the aircondition ... we really didn't like it. The second day I had a look at the Island Bures! They are really nice, so we changed the room back and had a wonderful time finally!

“Oceanfront Suite”

We were really happy with our room choice. There was plenty of room for a family, and the 2 bathrooms were great! It was just a short stroll from the beach were there is great snorkelling. We decided on the meal plans, as it was easier and cheaper with the children. From the 1st April, they have a 3% surcharge on credit card payments, good to be aware of! Overall, we were very happy with our holiday choice.

“loved the holiday, wouldn't say i will definately be back to that resort but definately to fiji!”

I would definately return to fiji it was beautiful, i loved Mana island but i feel that for me to stay there for more than a few days there needs to be some more food options especially on the menu at south beach restaurant. I feel that i wouldnt be able to take children there due to the lack of options for them to eat. If i did return i would definately be bringing food over with me to have as a backup. pricing is very expensive. I think the resort needs to add TV to its rooms. the staff were friendly and helpful. the island itself is magnificent!

Area recommendations
Mana Island, Port Denauru Marina and the snorkelling at Castaway island
When to go
we went to mana island in mid february and the weather was great, very hot and sunny during the day then at about 4pm every day some clouds came over and some times it had a little bit of rain.
Must see
the Seaspray island cruise - was fantastic! the day was great and the staff were very friendly, very tasty bbq lunch!
Dining
make sure you take over some drinks/snacks as there is not much on the island to choose from and very expensive. especially if you just want to sit down the beach with some chips/crackers and have a drink.
