“Well worth going.”
Great place to go, reef for snorkelling out the front, lots of activities, big rooms (the Beure), friendly and enthusiastic staff. Good and cheap food on the resort. Would go back again.
“Would stay there again”
The Rydges Hideaway was an extremely friendly place to stay I would stay there again it was a great place and the staff were excellnt.
“Not for the budget conscious”
The hotel was pleasing overall. The only problem that I had was that the air conditioning in my room got progressively less cool as the days went on, although if I had have asked I would probably would have been given another room. The resort is 20 minutes from the town so you really are forced to use their restaurant which adds to your bill considerably. I would recommend the Hideaway Resort to other travellers because the staff are very kind and welcoming.
“Good value.”
Location is fabulous. I had a beachfront bure that I shared with my 2 adult children. Very comfortable for us. View from bure exceptional. Staff, food, activities and cleanliness of rooms excellent. Only criticism is that the bathrooms are very 80's and need updating. Buffet breakfasts (excellent selection of food) were included in the price so it was excellent value for money.
“Great place to stay”
We only stayed one night but enjoyed the food, the Beachfront Villa was lovely and the bed and pillows very comfortable.

“GREAT Experience - TERRIFIC Family Holiday or Quiet Getaway”
From the moment you arrive you feel the warmth of this resort....... the drums play as your taxi door is opened, and you are greeted with a "Bula, Welcome Home". All in all, the Hideaway gave everything it promised..... the ONLY little disappointment was that they have not yet refurbished all of the Bures, and so the one we stayed in (number 5) was not of the same high standard as the photos on the website (which obviously becomes what you expect when you book). Everything else however was fantastic. Wonderful position, right on the beach with an accessible and safe lagoon to snorkel in. Friendly staff could not do enough for you and always with a GENUINE smile. Food was always consistent and we would give it a 7/10 for the standard. Highlight is the breakfast, a buffet with EVERYTHING on offer including a chef to cook your eggs etc just to your liking. You can take part in the activities, or sit back and relax...... as you wish. This was our first visit to Fiji and I'm sure will not be our last. For a value for money resort, you would be hard pushed to better the Hideaway. We also had conversations with others about their stays at resorts nearby, and it sounded like we made the right choice. None of them were as happy as us and wished they were staying at hideaway too. Very impressive also was the way the senior management make themselves available to you for advice / feedback / chat. To sum up 9/10 and a big THUMBS UP from our family. Thanks HIDEAWAY
“Quiet resort long away from civilization”
It's a nice resort. The rooms are villa style and maintained that way. So you pretty much live by that style without any TV, which is fine as you came to relax and enjoy other activities than watching TV. But a small tv atleast would have been good , especially when the weather is so bad outside. The only issue I had with the hotel is that when you check in, they try to do a bait and switch with the rooms. You've to be extremely careful on what room you're booking and know absolutely that's the room you're getting. We booked a ocean front on a deal, but when they saw that we got a deal and didn't pay more, they tried to put us in a dinky villa in the back, and not ocean front. They do this trick, so when they show the next available rooms you're scammed into paying (upgrading) more for the better rooms. That's the trick they play. We're not the only people who had this issue. We were talking to few of our villa neighbors and they too complained about this. We moved between 3 villa rooms in a single day. Finally got what we actually thought we paid for. Sadly , there are many hotels there trying to do this (even the american ones in denaru). Apart from that, there isn't much to complain. This place has only one restaurant though (given that it's remote) and limited menu items. They should change atleast the breakfast every 2 days or so with some variety. Same breakfast everyday sucks. So do lunch and dinner - not much variety.
“Rydges Hideaway Review”
Having visited Vanuatu before, Rydges was a good place to stay, however rooms need a bit more furniture, there is no-where to store your clothes hardly at all. Fairly relaxing, staff fun.
“Slipping away from Hideaway”
We have been regular visitors to Hideaway for the past 10 years. It has always been a bit dated and in need of modernising and maintenance which has been more evident as time goes by. Our regular returns to this idylic spot have generally been because of the staff. They are the heart and soul of this resort. They have cared for our family, aged from 4yrs to 84, and their warmth and genuine friendship has made each visit something to look forward to each year. Rydges took over this family run resort about 18months ago, not too much changed at this point, but it probably wasn't flash enough for Rydges so they have sold it on to another business consortium. This new ownership has a Manager who can't be bothered to look you in the eye or even turn up to the Managers Cocktail Party. The staff are too nervous to say anything because of "confidentiality clauses". It appears that most staff have had their hours cut or their contracts changed to their detriment. Staff have left, some who have been working for the resort for 20 years. Where there were two staff there is now just one. Morale is very low and it is very sad to witness. First time visitors will not notice, but many do return over the years and it will be a sad reflection on the current owners if they continue to destroy what, for us as a family (and we have been to several other resorts throughout Fiji) was a wonderful institution that represented the best of Fiji.
