“Great resort, booking for next year!”
From the welcoming drums and fruit punch on arrival to the moment we left 12 days later we had a ball. Fiji has some great resorts but this is the friendliest I have stayed at. Everyone was absolutely brilliant, efficient and all had the most beautiful smiles to brighten your stay and made you feel part of ‘their family’. Great surroundings, calm lagoon, well maintained gardens, bures close to the water, a nice pool/bar area - you name it, it had everything and more and at a very reasonable price. Meals were good with lots of variety across two menus. Our food (lunch & dinner) and bar tab for 12 days ended up being about AU$100 per day for 2 of us and we didn’t miss out, the cocktails were too tempting. The spicy omelets at breakfast each day were terrific, thanks for the cooking lessons Fayaz, but I still make a mess on the floor when I toss the omelets! The staff made Hideaway extra-special though and I can't recall one unhappy incident with any staff anywhere. Everyone was friendly and helpful and we got to know so many personally during our stay, special thanks to Vasiti, Fayaz, Kiti, Lea, Eseta, Tetha, Ana, PJ Singh,& .Onny, For the divers, the on-site PADI facility was handy with heaps of hire gear, the dive-masters were competent and fun and in 6 dives the longest boat ride I had was about 5 minutes plus we had 30M+ visibility on the first dive! Thanks Claire, Alex and all the DMs. The inexpensive upgrade to the best bure was well worthn it for our last 2 nights!
“GREAT Experience - TERRIFIC Family Holiday or Quiet Getaway”
From the moment you arrive you feel the warmth of this resort....... the drums play as your taxi door is opened, and you are greeted with a "Bula, Welcome Home". All in all, the Hideaway gave everything it promised..... the ONLY little disappointment was that they have not yet refurbished all of the Bures, and so the one we stayed in (number 5) was not of the same high standard as the photos on the website (which obviously becomes what you expect when you book). Everything else however was fantastic. Wonderful position, right on the beach with an accessible and safe lagoon to snorkel in. Friendly staff could not do enough for you and always with a GENUINE smile. Food was always consistent and we would give it a 7/10 for the standard. Highlight is the breakfast, a buffet with EVERYTHING on offer including a chef to cook your eggs etc just to your liking. You can take part in the activities, or sit back and relax...... as you wish. This was our first visit to Fiji and I'm sure will not be our last. For a value for money resort, you would be hard pushed to better the Hideaway. We also had conversations with others about their stays at resorts nearby, and it sounded like we made the right choice. None of them were as happy as us and wished they were staying at hideaway too. Very impressive also was the way the senior management make themselves available to you for advice / feedback / chat. To sum up 9/10 and a big THUMBS UP from our family. Thanks HIDEAWAY
“Good hotel overall”
Food was expensive with drinks not as cheap as expected, but everything else was great.
“We will be back again”
We spent 5 nights at The Hideaway. It was great and we had so much fun. A bit far from Nadi but was worth the travel. Beautiful beach and the resort staff was friendly and helpful. It is a kids friendly place. We will be back!
“Quiet resort long away from civilization”
It's a nice resort. The rooms are villa style and maintained that way. So you pretty much live by that style without any TV, which is fine as you came to relax and enjoy other activities than watching TV. But a small tv atleast would have been good , especially when the weather is so bad outside. The only issue I had with the hotel is that when you check in, they try to do a bait and switch with the rooms. You've to be extremely careful on what room you're booking and know absolutely that's the room you're getting. We booked a ocean front on a deal, but when they saw that we got a deal and didn't pay more, they tried to put us in a dinky villa in the back, and not ocean front. They do this trick, so when they show the next available rooms you're scammed into paying (upgrading) more for the better rooms. That's the trick they play. We're not the only people who had this issue. We were talking to few of our villa neighbors and they too complained about this. We moved between 3 villa rooms in a single day. Finally got what we actually thought we paid for. Sadly , there are many hotels there trying to do this (even the american ones in denaru). Apart from that, there isn't much to complain. This place has only one restaurant though (given that it's remote) and limited menu items. They should change atleast the breakfast every 2 days or so with some variety. Same breakfast everyday sucks. So do lunch and dinner - not much variety.
“very comfortable and affordable”
the service at the hotel was fantastic, rooms were comfortable and clean, very affordable, highly recommend this hotel!
“Better than expected by all in our party.”
The above ticks indicates our satisfaction. The value for money meals were excellent and breakfast which was included in our package was very good. The one thing that could be improved would be to have more umbrellas round the pool.
“Well worth going.”
Great place to go, reef for snorkelling out the front, lots of activities, big rooms (the Beure), friendly and enthusiastic staff. Good and cheap food on the resort. Would go back again.
“Honeymooners”
So I was very anxious after booking this hotel because most of the reviews were saying how it was not the best "romantic" getaway and that it's more for families with younger children. However, it wasn't as chaotic and noisy as I thought it would be. Yes, there were many families there and not that many honeymooners (we might have been the only one at that time) and most of them were Aussies (we're American), but that didn't dampen our trip. If you are used to 5 star hotels and want a luxurious stay, then this place is not for you. But my husband and I are not that high maintenance and were content with our stay at Rydges, mostly because we upgraded to a villa from an ocean view room. The villa was awesome!! We made plenty of use of the outdoor bath (garden views have them also, I heard) and the his and hers shower/sink. It had way more space than the ocean view AND it had that wonderful mosquito net over the bed that definitely made me feel that I was somewhere tropical and exotic. The only criticism I have is that when we checked into the ocean view room the first night, the phone wasn't working. And in the villa, the toilets didn't flush very well. A little annoying but didn't ruin our vacation. Oh, and if you like things done fast like me, then you will HATE Fijian time which is super slow!! They take forever to bring you your bill after dinner and will forget your table sometimes. :(. But again, this is prevalent all over Fiji, and not just at Rydges.
“Rydges Hideaway Review”
Having visited Vanuatu before, Rydges was a good place to stay, however rooms need a bit more furniture, there is no-where to store your clothes hardly at all. Fairly relaxing, staff fun.
