“Royal Marine Rox”
Great hideaway in outer Dublin.
“Royal Marine Hotel 1 Night Stay”
Arrived into Dublin and selected this property to stay at due to the closeness of the airport and our itinerary of travelling more south. The property was nice enough and the basic room comfortable. The mattress was amazing!! Very comfortable which goes hand in hand for a great sleep. The food choice for supper was great. We had lamb and beef for supper and it was perfectly cooked. Our entire supper meal was a 10. We ventured out and about to the nearby shopping and pier. All very close which enhanced our stay. The only negative was at checkout we had to insist on getting a copy of our zero balance bill. The person checking us out was not accommodating at all insisting our zero balance portfolio would be sent to Expedia our travel agent. At the end of the day with a little firmness from us we did get a copy of our bill. Not a big deal however puts a bit of a down spin on an overall great stay.
“Good...but be warned”
So the hotel is older and could use some updates....but it's clean and great location to jump off from. If you chose to not get a rental car there is a train that brings you pretty close to the hotel (about a block away). The prices of food is somewhat reasonable but remember this is not American food so be prepared that a burger doesn't exactly taste like a burger (but not bad). Don't pay for breakfast or desserts....not worth it. There is a pastry store very close by...it closes at 7pm. If you are staying through a weekend...I would ask if there are any wedding happening...if so, get a high level floor, otherwise you will here music till 2 or 3 am...it happened on 2 nights for me. The pool is mainly for lap swimmers and you have to wear a swim cap...there are family times, but they are not convenient. Overall, it was worth it...but if any of the above will bother you, than I would chose a different option.
“Scenic and then some”
The Royal Marine Hotel is a beautiful place to stay while in Dublin. It is a short ride on the train to downtown Dublin. There is plenty of shops and places to eat within walking distance of the hotel if you want to stay by the water for the day. Spending time on the docks is a very pleasant way to pass the time as well.
“Would definitely go back”
Hotel was clean and comfortable. Hallways and decks could use a little repair, but service was great. Staff was very friendly.
“See the Irish Sea”
This hotel was right on the Irish Sea. You could take wonderful walks along the coastline very morning. The hotel was somewaht older but that enhanced the charm. The service in the hotel was exceptional. The town was quaint and full of wonderful shops and tea rooms. I would highly recommend the Royal Marine hotel, it was a great value!
“Overall Grade A”
Good housekeeping service. Very comfortable bedding. Separate shower and bath. Easy to check in. Complimentary parking. Nice indoor pool, jacuzzi, steam room, sauna, and fitness facility. Friendly staff. Safe suburban neighborhood. Beautiful scenery. Overall good location for a quiet and relaxing stay.on the outskirts of Dublin.
“Excellent Value”
*An overall good experience for our five night stay. *The shuttle from the airport drops off/picks up right in front of the hotel *A five minute walk to the DART (commuter train into Dublin). *Scenic view from room. *The Pier Health Club located it the basement level of the hotel was wonderful. Use of the pool, hot-tub, steam room, sauna, and athletic equipment is included with the hotel reservation. This benefit added to the excellent value of the hotel. *The room we stayed in was very nice; no complaints about the room or room service. *Three issues we did have: 1) There was a wedding reception on Sunday night with a live band playing loud music until two in the morning. The entire hotel must have heard this. 2) The breakfast in the hotel's main restaurant was extremly overpriced for the quality. I would not recommend the breakfast (I believe it was over 20 Euros each, and not very fresh or tasty) 3) Our key cards for accessing our room and use of the elevators didn't work often; one day we had them replaced at least three times. This was very frustrating (we were certain that we didnt do anything to demagnetize them).
“Very pleased”
We were pleasantly surprised when we arrived at the beautiful appearance and location of the hotel. The inside was also gorgeous and the staff was very helpful and friendly. When we got to our room we were again very happy with the quality of the room and would recommend this hotel to anyone. Spectacular view.
“Caution!”
The hotel was very nice and the service was good. However, I would NOT recommend this hotel to anyone wishing to get any sort of sleep while on vacation. The hotel is extremely loud. At all hours of the night there is some sort of large trash compactor that runs outside. It was so extreme that everyone in my room could hear the noise even though we bought ear plugs. I saw other's review's online regarding the noise level. I figured there was no way that it could be that bad. I was wrong.
