“Great modern, comfortable and clean hotel with outstanding views”
We stayed at this hotel while on business in Cork. It gave about a 20 minute commute. The hotel is a bit of a gem. It is in the most fantastic location on the hill over Kinsale. The entrance foyer is impressive in its own right, as is the welcome from the staff. We were upgraded to Ocean view and I would urge anyone to pay the extra to get this view over the Oysterhaven bay ... it's the best room view I've had in a long while. The rooms are very comfortable with lounge chairs, comfy beds and a sizeable bathroom. It's almost a 5 but the pillows were just a bit too thick to be comfortable. The pool etc and gym are free for guests which is a nice little addition after a day's work or travelling. Wifi is free for 30 minutes so only enough to collect and respond to most urgent emails but you can buy additional time. We ate in the hotel one night and have to say we were very impressed. The choice was excellent and service outstandingly friendly. There is a nice selection of hot rock mains which I've only otherwise seen in France before. The steak was incredible. Prices are reasonable and the view from a window table again capitalises on the coastline. Kinsale is a short drive away although not a walk. We did see a courtesy bus but didn't investigate as we had a car.The rates for the stay were off peak so we got a far better hotel and room than we could have expected. I will definitely go back next time I'm in the area. Thanks for a great stay and wonderful hospitality.
“Stunning hotel, very impressed.”
Carlton Hotel was an amazing experience for both of us. The hotel is stunning, clean and the staff is very helpful. The spa is amazing, but a bit pricey. Can not wait to return!
“Review of Carlton Hotel & Spa in Kinsale Ireland”
Upon arrival the front desk team was polite, organize, ready to provide the excelent service as expected. They saw many bags we carried and had offered to take them up to the room, but we managed. The location is superb and the view from the hotel overlooking the bay was wonderful. There were many trails to walk the grounds and the ouside like the inside was kept up very well. On a scale of 1-10 for this hotel I would rete a good 9. Have not seen a perfect 10 yet :). Enjoy your time in Ireland, I have and will again another day.
“Excellent hotel in an idylic position”
This hotel is in an idylic, quiet position with fantastic views. The hotel staff were friendly and very helpful. The quality and service provided was very much 4 star hotel standard.
“LOVED IT!!”
fantastic hotel! beautiful view and property. Free wi-fi in lobby only. Checked in an hour early and they upgraded us to a garden apt suite! For 2 people we had a 3 bedroom, 3 bathroom, 2 story, 2 balcony apt with a private car park. Ate in the pub/bar area and food was good. Extremely helpful in accommodating special diets (i have an allergy). Pub and common areas could use a little work, some areas with paint falling off the wall and things that you would think a 4 star hotel would maintain. Only complaint is the front desk, wanted to set up golf while we were there and they wouldnt let us use their phone or call to help us set it up. made us go back to our room and call ourselves, at a fee to use the phone. Wouldnt stop me from staying there again. Kinsale is only a 5-10min drive down the road and there was plenty of parking in the lot there.
“Quality Carlton”
An excellent hotel about 5 minutes drive from the centre of Kinsale. All staff were attentive, efficient and very friendly. The choice and quality of food was good with the option of bar or restaurant dining. The gym and swimming pool areas were great. The only downside for some might be the small double beds. I would certainly stay at the Carlton again.
“Great Hotel with Fantasic Views”
A new modern, clean hotel with excellent facilities. One (illogical!)irritation was to be told one must purchase a 3 Euro swimming cap if you wished to use the swimming pool, only to be greeted by the sight of numerous other (Non Guest Spa Club Members?)swimmers using the pool without caps!

“Very comfortable, a good experience”
Staff were friendly and helpful, rooms were spacious and comfortable and house keeping was effective and regular. We particularly appreciated the taxi/minibus service to Kinsale, since this allowed us to enjoy eating out at several restaurants during our stay, the cost of this service was not high and the drivers were very pleasant and helpful. If our travels take us back to Kinsale, we would certainly consider staying at the Carlton Hotel again.
“Carlton Kinsale”
As I stated above, the hotel is wonderful. The staff is warm and friendly and it is a perfect spot in which to spend some time in Ireland. Best of all, this is NO smoking! Getting to the hotel was difficult because of our GPS which we found was frustrating on this trip. That is NOT the fault of the hotel. The hotel is out of town by only a few moments and it is a wonderful treat. The food is grand! All is well here and I shall return.
