Though the property is somewhat remote (in between Salida and Canon City), we knew this before we drove from Denver and loved the location, especially the mountain views, the deep-field mind-blowing, awe-inspiring stars (never seen anything like it), the surrounding fields with horses and cows, the proximity to the Arkansas River where our dogs loved swimming. The house is equipped with EVERYTHING and then some and, though it does not have a dishwasher, we didn't mind at all. It has big great room with a ceramic, electric stove that kept us warm and individual room heaters that took away the chill of the May nights. There was plenty of room for our group of five to cook, play games, hangout and be together. Sitting on the front deck around the fire pit at night was lovely. I have NEVER seen so many bright stars in one sky. We were all mesmerized. Added bonus....we opened the big grill to cook some salmon the first night and there was a momma Bluebird and five eggs. She and her mate had built a magnificent nest in the grill so we let them be. The next morning the eggs were hatched and momma was bringing the babies worms. The male bluebird was really really bright blue and both were clear that we were not supposed to mess with their kiddos. We said hello to them each morning and a final goodbye today as we left. Mother Nature at its best! Nice linens on the beds, thick towels in the bathrooms, an endless supply of toiletries and comfy, quiet sleeping with only crickets and the wind. Kitchen was well-equipped with a huge amount of condiments and pantry goods available to us. It has a Keurig for coffee and not a traditional drip pot which I would have preferred, but the coffee was fine. Suggest getting a basic drip pot for the next renters so they can use their own coffee. **Note: Internet password is on the router in the little living room at the side entry. The one given to us by the management company did not work but we found the right one easily enough. We took the train through the Royal Gorge and went to Salida another day for dinner and bluegrass music at the hatch-shell by the river. There is endless fun to be had in this valley and we go often. For anyone who wants to be away from the mainstream, in a comfortable house and settled under the most beautiful starry sky at night.......this is the palce.
