“Loved it”
The hotel it's self is fabulous. All areas are clean and well maintained, and the staff are all helpful and friendly too. You can get by with just English, and the menu's in the restaurant are translated too. The hotel is in a quite secluded spot, we rented a car, and would recommend you do too. The are a few villages along the coast within 20 minutes drive which offer, a 'local' experience, great seafood, cheap lunches and again very friendly people. The coast in the area is made of dark volcanic rock and wouldn't be great for little children, and the rocks get very hot too!!. All in all, I would reccommend this hotel in every respect!
“good hotel”
This hotel has recently been refurbished and the bedrooms are clean, tidy and well presented. Public areas are large and again well presented with a nice pool area and private beach. Don't bother with the buffet go for the more select restaurant. Which is in fact better value and quality. Staff very helpfull indeed. Free parking and good location for exploring the east of the island. Though bit difficult to find first time - thank god for sat nav !
“Yes with reservations”
The hotel is beautifully appointed with an infinity pool and landscaped grounds with a very well designed terrace. The entrance, common areas and restaurants are very good and food quality excellent. Unfortunately because of the size of hotel it is used for conferences/package tours from France and UK and weddings. If you enjoy people watching this is great, especially the weddings but it can get a little crowded at times and the terrace is dismantled for events. The 2 days the hotel did not have events were bliss and during the day it can be quiet if no conferences and weddings. I am sure this was high season for weddings-we had zero rainfall in a week and 3 weddings. This is an excellent location for touring to many spectacular east and south coast sites and climbing Etna. Just choose your season well. Also we asked for a room with 2 queen beds and were given twins. We still had a good time but it took the edge of it and reduced comfort levels.
“Hotel good but you need a car!!!”
Hotel service was very good. Air con was not working, was soon moved into a better room. Pool very clean as was the Hotel in general. Food and service was excellent. You need a car, however, driving in Sicily is chaotic at times.
“Beautiful Hotel”
This hotel was a good location for us because we were traveling to Taramina and Syracuse it was in the middle. Great little towns around. We had a sea view just great.
“Really relaxing hotel”
Very relaxing hotel with very polite staff. Rooms extremely comfortable and al a carte menu extensive. Buffet breakfast could have been more varied over the week long stay. Pool was superb. Would recommned hotel to anyone looking for a relaxing holiday and a good central point for the east of the Island
“understatedly elegant”
A very stylish hotel but with few surrounding attractions. If you want a romantic out of season hideaway this would be ideal. We might have expected a little more attention to detail considering the price. While our room was clean and spacious and had a wonderful sea view, several items were broken or 'tired'. The Hotel offered few facilities out of season although service was friendly and attentive. Good location for exploring the Eastern side of the Island.
“Will definitively go back”
The hotel was great. It was just renovated during the 2007 Winter so we had a fabulous brand new room. It was also very spacious, similar to US standards. The food was good and the dining a la carte area was very, very romantic overlooking the sea. The salt water pool was excellent, with a stunning view. However, the staff only speaks Italian or Sicilian and the menus were all in Italian! Can be annoying for some people, but we welcomed the language challenge! We wish they have wireless connection throughout the hotel and having a small work out room would be a plus. Also, make sure to hire a car and bring your own map, there is lot to discover on the East coast from Taormina to Syracusa. The hotel front desk is very helful and ladies, watch out for the pool boy!! In Sicily, make sure you tip very well (it appears to be the custom which we immediately applied and received fabulous service!
“Don't go there”
Hotel staff apart from waiter in a la carte restaurant were rude and unhelpful. Room was nice but not cleaned properly, had to complain about bedlinen not being changed for 6 days.Coach loads of tourists, poor buffet food. A la carte restaurant was brilliant but was frequently closed. Hotel in the middle of nowhere,no beach poor sunbeds. Toilets smell was absolutely appalling and noticable in public areas. Paid for second hotel in Taormina for last 4 nights of our holiday
“Deeply disappointed”
Broken shower head, a tempermental air conditioning unit and no balcony - if you do not speak adequate Italian, then you are unable to complain about any of these things. The staff on reception only scowl when you attempt some Italian and claim not to understand you. A rough shake of the head when you ask if anyone can speak English. A smile would not have gone amiss for this increasingly unsettled and foreign guest who tried their best to speak Italian. The service was in all, a major disappointment. The restaurants are confusing. For lunch, you have to make a booking, only it is not clear where to book and the staff turn you away if you just turn up despite the restaurant being empty. Poor quality breakfast and no room service makes this a challenging place to eat and given its location, there is nowhere to go as an alternative. Taxis are difficult to come by (on that note, prepare yourself for an expensive ride if getting a taxi from the airport). No entertainment with the only English speaking channels on the TV for early evening are the news (sky had been fitted but needed a card - something which I did not know how to obtain). The only excursion information available was a leaflet on diving - again only available in Italian. This is not a hotel I would recommend for a lone traveller. You also definitely need to have a solid grasp of Italian - not a place for someone who needs a phrase book to order a drink.
