“very good hotel!”
we had a lot of fun
“Excellent base for exploring Sicily”
Friendly, family run place. Wonderful pool/terrace on roof. Good quality local dishes. Will certainly return.
“A fine experience”
The hotel was fine, and the staff extremely helpful and courteous. The only drawback was we had not realsied it was off the beaten track, but that is our fault not theirs. The town is quite small with only a couple of restaurants. However, the restaurant at the hotel was very nice, and it was all very reasonably priced. You need a car to get out and about, but it is about 15km from the coast at Taormina, and less that an hours drive to the North face of Etna. Breakfast was plentiful, although the only shame is that the coffee is from a machine. The rooms are what you would expect from a reasonably priced hotel. The pool on the roof would be lovely in the Summer (it was a bit cold by the time we went). You need a swimming hat though. Overall I would certainly recommend this hotel provided you are looking for a restful stay and not nightlife
“Will be returning In April 2012”
I believe this is a family run hotel. If it's not, it certainly has that feel about it. Friendly staff. Giuseppe speaks good English and is always willing to help. Good spread at breakfast (served 7.30 - 9.30) and a good menu in the evening (dinner served 7.30 - 9.00). Lunch is available too. Although situated on a main road, my room was quiet and, whilst at the lower end of the price range, well appointed. Free internet service available. Overall, I'm impressed enough to book again for a planned return trip in the spring.
“wonderful expierience”
The hotel was wonderful. Guissippe the manager was more than helpful. He showed us around the hotel which was more than I expected. Meetings rooms/ pool/ bar/ restaraunt with several areas in or out. Many places to sit and relax. If you need info then just see the manager and he knows it all. May be a little out of the way but well worth the extra time to get there.
“A great way to see the real Sicily”
The hotel is set on the edge of a small, quite unremarkable town. However, That is surrounded by lots of amazing places. As a base to travel the hotel works very well. The nearby towns of Monte Camastra and Catilione de Sicilia are facinating and the resort of Geordini Naxos is only 30 minutes away. The ring road around Mt. Etna can be accessed relatively easily and makes a great day trip as do the roads ovr the mountains to Tinaris. The staff are all very friendly and although English is spoken only by one communication is usually streight forward. The roof terace offers a pleasant escape from the world below with a nice pool to relax before or after a session on the sun lounger. Breakfast was functional and as an ex-baker I complement them on their bread rolls. Dinner was better though only limited choice on the menu. As the hotel fronts onto a main road traffic noise is a bit of an issue especially early in the morning. The hotel car park is a real bonus especially as it seems to be locked at night.
“Need a car”
Took ages too find as name was overgrown with ivy. 2 hours drive fron Catania airport. Driving is "mad". Noisy at night, barking dogs from some residents near by. No complimentaryy fill ups of toiletteries. Staff were as obliging as they could be as English was not fluent. Not much to see after doinf "Etna"
“Not impressed”
The man on the reception desk was great and very helpfull, unfortunatly when we arrived there was only one other couple as guests in the hotel despit it being June. Due to this the bar was not open at all, the resturant only had 2 set meals which were both pasta dishes, unfortunatly we could find only 1 other eating/drinking place in the village. Our double bed was 2 single matresses on a double bed stead which wouldn't have been too bad if one hadn't been rock hard and the other very soft. We were only supplied with one flat pillow each at the beginning of the week but managed to get a couple more when we asked. The roof top pool was lovely once it was cleaned 1/2 way into our stay. The hotel could be really nice but is dated, I think this area is becoming more deprived while the more touristy areas such as Taoramina are getting more and more money which is a shame because this was a beautiful village with friendly people.
“Less than impressed”
Booked hotel on basis of two nights for the price of one. Left after first night. Room cold with no heat output from radiators. Room and bed obviously not aired. May be OK in season, but best avoided at other times. Thankfully not typical of rest of stay in Sicily
