A local institution, Tanes Hotel is a large Victorian house built in 1888 (retaining many original internal and external features), that prides itself on its quality, comfort and welcoming atmosphere. The hotel recently completed a major refurbishment to keep itself fresh and up to date.
Tanes Hotel is a family run hotel operating in Cardiff for nearly 40 years. We pride ourselves on our welcome, quality and comfort. We have a range of 19 modern, well furnished ensuite bedrooms available all with colour televisions, washbasins,central heating and tea and coffee making facilities. Our lounge room and dining room fare available for use by our guests, and ground floor rooms available for easy access. We are a self assessed 3 star Guest House accommodation.
We are exactly ½ mile (10-15 minutes walk) from the City Centre of Cardiff, the Capital City of Wales and close to all local attractions. Guests can relax and unwind in our large front sitting/drawing room after a day’s sightseeing, or indeed after a hearty, freshly cooked breakfast enjoyed in our pleasant dining room appointed with bone china plates, cups and saucers for that superior service.
Tanes Hotel offers many facilities to make your stay enjoyable. There is a comfortable guest sitting room to relax in after a day out, offering games, maps, books, a baby grand piano and television. The conservatory breakfast room overlooks the garden. In the summer, the garden is ideal for reading or relaxing. Good home cooking is a specialty of Danehurst House. A gourmet breakfast is served daily, using local produce where possible. A full English breakfast is available using local produce.
Rooms
Our rooms are modern and attractively well furnished. They all have new individually sprung top of the range mattresses for added comfort. All rooms have modern colour TVs, washbasins, central heating, tea and coffee makers. We provide a full set of large soft towels. A freshly cooked English breakfast is included in the price.Where en suite rooms are provided, guests can enjoy a private fully equipped shower or bath system in sparkling chrome and Italian tile.
Dining
Tanes hotel has a large attractive dining room where guests are able to have breakfast and teas and coffees. Service is provided on neatly presented tables laden with quality bone china crockery, butter, jams and marmalade. Guest are able to use the dining room throughout the day if required.

“Fantastic”
Lovely room, really clean, well decorated, plasma telly, with free-view, brand new shower room, and the bed was so comfy, beeding was super soft, I was considering moving in! And really cheap, over-all top notch 10/10
“Great hotel in a great location”
The hotel is situated in a great location on Newport Road. A bus stop is close by if you don't want to walk into town, which takes between 20 & 40 minutes depending upon where you want to be. The room was spacious and very comfortable. In the morning, there was a hearty breakfast on offer, which was excellent quality. I'd definitely return to the hotel on my next visit to Cardiff.

I liked the quiet stay and the general cleanliness of the hotel. However I was not quite warm at night as the single duvet was inadequate.
“Adequate hotel but not suitable for small children”
I only stayed for one night. I picked the hotel as it was close to a social event that I was attending. I was welcomed at the hotel and given a key for both the front door and the room. I returned to the hotel in the early hours of the morning and due to a train that I needed to catch I had to leave before breakfast. This means I cannot review the food provided. The room itself was well appointed although not en suite so the shower room and WC are shared facilities which makes it less suitable for guests with small children. It was however perfectly adequate for my needs.
