“Great value”

We just needed an overnight hotel and Holiday Inn was an excellent value. Everything was comfortable, not luxurious, but clean. Efficient check in. It was raining and late so we decided to eat at the restaurant in the hotel and were pleasantly surprised by the quality in a hotel resto. Conveniently located from airport and downtown.

“Pretty and in great location”

Nice setting, clean, open plan - most rooms with a view of the estuary which was muddy even at high tide. Good sized rooms, - get the breakfast option - it keeps you going for longer - won't need an expensive lunch before dinner. Pool is okay. Most everythign is walkable from this hotel including St. Monica's Catholic church across the street.

“nice time”

the hotel offered good standard: large rooms, bath room toiletries, fridge, beach towel, self service washing machine and drier. the beds were a bit too soft though.

“Comfy room”

The only real problem I had with this room was its proximity to a rather busy road which seemed to have activity day and night; it was easily heard through the closed balcony door. The room, itself, however, was spacious, clean, and the bed was very comfortable. Staff was extremely courteous and helpful. Breakfast buffet was excellent and I really enjoyed the choose-for-yourself espresso/cappucino/latte/coffee machine. Nice touch!

“Great location, clean rooms, very reasonable”

The hotel was booked at a very reasonable price for Australia standards. The room was big enough for my family (2 adults and 2 kids 10 and 12). It looked higher quality than a standard Holiday Inn here in the USA. The location is awesome, at the Cairns Esplanade, couple blocks from the city downtown and pier where boats leave. Lots of restaurants nearby, at more affordable prices than the hotel restaurants. Would definitely use the hotel if back to Cairns, but I doubt this will happen - if I ever go back to Great Barrier Reef, I will likely go to Port Douglas or Heron Island.

“Family stop-over stay”

We had a 1 night stopover as a family of 3. The room felt adequately spacious for this. The hotel which has an attractive, open, airy feel circles around an open palm filled atrium.Though it is between the front road with various restaurants facing onto the sea and on the corner of a roundabout of a parallel road the traffic was not heavy. Shops, restaurants and harbour are within walking distance. The pool looked attractive. Check-in was not the fastest but perfectly adequate and the staff friendly. As we ate out, we cannot comment on the food though the menu looked reasonable. We would use this hotel again. It is one of the better Holiday Inns which we have used world-wide.

“Highly Recommended”

It isn't luxurious but the price is less than I would have expected to pay for the level of the hotel, which is perfectly acceptable. The location was great, the room was lovely, the public areas are tropical and pleasing and the staff are fabulous. Parking was undercover, secure and free. Everything was just easy! Only downside was that, along with most other large hotels, in room internet is far too expensive.
