“Fantastic holiday”

Fantastic location - just metres from the beach. Excellent staff - good knowledge of location and services. Holidayed quietly and in comfort.

“Cold on the beach”

The hotel was comfortable and the management extremely helpful. It is not located within easy walking distance to a lot of amenities. We wish we had rented a car as we felt isolated.

“Great place, but last few days spoilt by cigarette smoke”

We recently stayed at the Agincourt in Clifton Beach. We are very familiar with Cairns and environs so chose that area. We chose this hotel based on reviews from travel sites. On arrival late afternoon we found the office closed, but an envelope with our name was on the door, and a note directing us to the unit. This was great, as we were very tired. the unit was on the first floor and was very appealing in decor and cleanliness. The bed was extremely comfortable, and the kitchen well equipped. The grounds around the pool area are lovely, and there is a great bbq with all the tools to use, as well as seating under cover. The pool is a great size for doing laps, and is heated. The only thing that spoiled our last few days was a group that was put in the unit below us, and they chain smoked all day long out thru the screens, and it came up into our room and deck area. We are not fans of air conditioning, even in extreme weather, but we were forced to close the doors and put the air con on. My suggestion would be to try and ask if they intend to smoke, and put them to one end of the long block. I realize that the rooms are non smoking, and there are ashtrays provided on the decks, but for us, our last few days made us feel like we were 'holed up' unable to venture outside.

“Great Location”

The apartments themselves were probably slightly under my expectations and probably not quite the 4 star self rating. Having said that, they are nice clean apartments with every thing you need, just a little older than I was expecting. However, all of this becomes secondary when you see the location. I absolutely recommend the ocean view rooms as the view was fantastic. Clifton beach is quiet and sleepy with more foot traffic than car traffic. People walking and jogging up and down the beach all day and hardly ever a car. We originally looked at staying at Trinity Beach instead but I'm glad we changed our minds. Trinity looked fantastic but it's a lot more touristy and busy. Clifton Beach was perfect because it was quiet and relaxing but only a 3min drive or 20 min walk to Palm Cove for some of the best Breakfasts and Dinners I've had anywhere. Vivo restaurant at Palm Cove is an absolute must. Overall we loved our holiday, so many activities in and around Cairns, then coming back to our apartment in the quiet, sleepy, beautiful, Clifton Beach.

“Average! Adequate! Just Okay!!”

Booked this Apartment based on previous reviews. Wanted self-catering, had a car, location was not a priority. Clifton Beach definitely the quieter of the Northern Beaches. Arrived after-hours - instructions received for collecting keys & finding apartment were clear and simple. Our initial reaction was that the apartment was very basic, rather tired & lacked "sparkle". Our expectations had been more, so were a little disappointed, but we adjusted. It was hot! the air-conditioning did not work. The decor & utilities rather dated but adequate. We always look carefully when booking to see what our accommodation includes - two things we'd expected (phone & hairdryer) did not exist. Next morning we mentioned the phone & air-con to the Manager. The phone was important for family to contact us - we were offered a mobile for a deposit (declined this offer). After a reminder, 2-3 days later, the air-con was looked into but problem was never solved. We just made-do with the ceiling fans. As for the hair-dryer - we hadn't packed one so we went without. Grocery starter-pack did not contain the dish/laundry items mentioned . There's a notice saying dirty dishes left at the end of your stay will incur a charge - probably accounts for why we had to re-wash cups before we could use ourselves. In summary, attention-to-detail would make a big difference here. It makes the difference between recommending to others or returning! We're not hard to please and seldom complain. Just being honest.
