Stayed many times and will stay again. Not the most luxurios rooms, but the overall feel of the hotel is very relaxing. If your breakfast is included in your room rate,of course take it.Dont pay daily, as there are better options on the streets.Use the hotel as a comfortable base whilst exploring the fantastic region.Cafe to side of hotel is great for a last night cap.
“Wonderful Hotel in a small Old Tradition town in southern Spain”
Monasterio San Miquel Hotel, Puerto Santa Maria Marvelous Oasis in a town full of old time spanish tradition & culture. In my case, on the last stop of a long journey & the perfect choice! Beautiful Peacful Monastary with a wonderful courtyard, brite sunlit hobby, religous paintings antique pieces and the sound of water fountains. Great place to read the morning paper or your favorite book. Great breakfast buffet & a friendly evening Cafe, charming 15th century monastary like fine dinning restaurant. As well as a Courteous, Helpful & Professional Staff.
“Gorgeous relaxing hotel in great location”
When you walk into this hotel, you know that you have arrived somewhere special. A lot of religious paintings and artefacts have been kept which gives the hotel a lot of character. I ate out a lot as the restaurants in El Puerto are very good but the food in both the hotel restaurant and cafe/ bar was good, although they did lack in atmosphere. The buffet breakfast was fantastic. The hotel is well located in the north of the historic centre of the town close to the train station, best restaurants, bodegas and the boat to Cadiz. If you are using the hotel's basement carpark, be aware that they will charge you 12 Euros per day - not cheap - so you may want to use the free car park next to the train station.
“Santa Maria and the hotel”
Great area of Spain. Resort was only 10-15 minutes away from Jerez airport and a cheap taxi ride. A number of decent resturants and dozens of small tapas bars. English is not very widely spoken. Go armed with some basic spanish phrases. Never had a bad meal out. Could give you a very lengthy list of what we ate and where but have the fun of discovering things for your selves. Apart from trips to the beach, sherry or brandy tours, or day trips to cadiz, you can also look around the bull ring for free in the mornings. On arrival we were upgraded to a room with a balcony over looking a small tree filled court yard. No good if you wanted to sunbath (but you can do that round the pool or on the roof) but vey private. On the roof to climb the tower and look at the veiw over to Cadiz. Free hotel bus to and from the beach although this is only run during the summer (so stopped the week we arrived!). The staff at reception were very helpful. You can buy tickets for them for the boat to Cadiz and for various Sherry tours (we did the Osborne one). They also recomended us some very good resturants and tapas bars. The only draw back to this hotel were the staff in the cafeteria and the breakfast room who where painfully slow at service. The hotel guests were a mixture of Spanish, English and German buiness people and holiday makers. Variety of ages but no families with children.
“pleasant good value hotel”
Public areas delightful with lots of marble and water features. Helpful and friendly reception staff whose English was good. Excellent buffet breakfast. Bedrooms average but ok. Main restaurant pricey but food in cafeteria (including 3 course set meal) good quality and comparable in price with restaurants in the town
“great stylish friendly hotel”
everything about the hotel was excellent. The staff were friendly and helpful, the rooms clean and comfortable and the breakfasts went on till 11.00am, perfect for a relaxing break! The location was also good, although in the centre of town, the room was very quiet because of the courtyard design. I would definately recommend it as a place to stay
“Real Spanish Retreat”
We stayed for one week at the Hotel and were hoping for a real Spanish retreat which is exactly what we got. The Hotel is very central for the Town Centre with it's Tapas bars and restaurants albeit not so close to the beaches. The room was very comfortable with a nice balcony and it was cleaned very thoroughly every day. We didn't eat in the restaurant other than one day for breakfast which was lovely. The pool is nice albeit a bit chilly but that was a welcome relief during such hot weather (early June. The poolside bar provides perfectly reasonable snacks and drinks whilst your relaxing. On the whole i wouldn't hesitate to recommend this Hotel. The only reason it may not suit is if you want to be by the beach. The town is lovely too - overall a really good holiday destination whether you want to relax or explore or a combination of the two.
“Amazing place”
Set in a beautifully restored monastery it was a superb oasis in a busy holiday. Wonderful food. Abundant breakfasts. Courteous staff. Spacious, tranquil and comfortable.
“Excellent choice”
Outstand experience; highly recommended.
