“very gracious and reasonable”
This hotel was created in a distinguished old building but has all modern conveniences. Aspects of the building--e.g., stone walls and arches--have been retained. The room was actually a junior suite and extremely confortable.
“Great hotel”
Enjoyed staying in this hotel as it was located in a central location where we could walk to all the things we wanted to see. Loved how the older architecture of the building was incorporated into the modern architecture. Staff was very pleasant! Within walking distance of the bus station. Would love to stay there again!
“Hotel Valeda Burgos-would go back”
Very nice-little balcony-cute quiet street that leads to the Cathedral-very clean
“Beautiful hotel - but get your breakfast elsewhere”
This is undoubtedly a very lovely hotel, and conveniently located. The sculpted door-handles and stair-rails in the lobby area are fascinating, and the construction is hugely imaginative - effectively a modern hotel merged into the ruins of an 18th century palace. We had a tastefully furnished and well equipped junior suite on the first floor. Given the quality and style, the prices are almost unbelievably low - particularly for someone coming from the UK. The hotel faces on to a narrow street, so there was no view - but that was part of the deal and we didn't regard it as a problem. It is, therefore, a huge shame that the hotel is let down so badly by its breakfast arrangements. We stayed in 3 other hotels of similar quality during the same trip, all with superb breakfast buffets. But here, for the same price, you get sliced supermarket bread, processed cheese slices, very undistinguished cold meats, no fresh fruit, very poor coffee, and service so unfriendly as to border on the hostile. We discovered on our last day that a cooked breakfast was available, but we didn't discover whether it was included in the standard breakfast price. So, in summary, I would thoroughly recommend the hotel itself, but if you can hang on for your breakfast, go and find a cafe.
“old world style and comfort”
a very comfortable hotel somewhat difficult to locate.Garage is small and awkward to navigate and park.Staff were helpfull and had a good command of english.Excellent dinner in the restaurant-30 euros for 4 courses ,wine and water.
“Great Hotel in lovely location, bad car park though”
Wonderful hotel with superb rooms. We had 2 junior suites which were fabulous, very comfortable & extremely clean. We stayed here with 2 children on our way to Bilbao, it's a wonderful stop off point, close to the Cathedral which is glorious and the bustling squares of the old town.
“OK but noisy rooms”
I stayed at the Hotel Velada in March for one night. It is a beautiful hotel and they have done a nice job on the decor. When I arrived it was late- around 9pm and I just wanted to leave my bag and go to dinner then return to check in. The front desk spent over 10 minutes helping someone with directions without even aknowledging me. When I came back, I checked in and went to my room. The room was very large with an adjoining sitting room. The only problem is that the floor was wooden and no carpet. The people above me were up until 3am banging closet doors and walking around in shoes so it made it hard to sleep. In the morning I had the best room service breakfast- thick toast, orange juice and coffee for only 8 euros. It was excellent. If I had slept better I really would have enjoyed this hotel more! The best things about the hotel are the location, aesthetics, and breakfast. The cons- the lack of soundproofing in the rooms, minibar with only 4 things, no coffee or tea making facilities in the room.
