“One of the best long weekends ever!”

Hotel is in a great location, near to the Basilica, river, funicular, metro (easy English speaking controllers, use and easy stops) in Pest but opposite Buda Palace complex. Also hotel well sound-proofed from the bells and people. Rooms on the internal courtyard are very quiet. Breakfast can be satisfying or an indulgence in people watching .......The selection is fantastic from fresh fruit, muesli, yoghurt to cooked eggs, sausages and really tasty fruit pastries as well as eggs, croissants, bread varieties some with chocolate, bread, honey, jam and coffee, tea, fruit juices ( 4 types). In warm early september sheets and duvets were changed daily and towels on request with good bathroom facilities and space. Overall not just service but pleasant service from the front desk staff , to the chambermaids and the breakfast service. Overall a real Team approach! Lots of good places to eat in the evening within 5-10 mins walk. Italian (LEFT HAND SIDE) on central road to river from Basilica square was brilliant and we went there twice - try seafood risotto or Chicken and mushrooms and duck with pink peppercorns, but consider sharing vegatable portions as they are generous - ask a waiter!.

“Excellent , friendly hotel. Recommended”

I stayed at the Central Basilca in May 2009 having read other reviews on this website. The htel in yards from the superb St stephen's Basilica on the Pest side of the Danube. ther are some good restuarants aroung the square and the hotel is only a couple of black and aq few minutes away fron the Chain Bridge giving access to the Buda side of the city. It is also only a few minutes away from the shopping areas and tram, trolley bus and bus routes. The hotel is very clean and well presented. The rooms are confortable, clean and well furnished with televisions giving access to BBC World and CNN. Towlels were changed daily and folded daily although we had not requested new ones. The rooms were cleaned and tidied daily and the beds made. There was an excellent breakfast with scrambled eggs and sausages as well as the usual cold meats, cheeses and hams. The staff were most helpful and ordered friendly. On request, they ordered the minibus back to the airport at the end of our stay. The minibus is the most convenient and economic means of arrival and departure. One reviewer mentioned lack of a kettle but my travel companion had brought coffee and the hotel were happy to lend us a kettle. We found the hotel to be good value and very pleasant.

“Excellent hotel”

We loved this hotel which is in a good location. The staff were extremely helpful and spoke good english. The breakfast buffet was a good standard, the bed was comfortable and the room was cleaned well every day.It is ideally situated for a lot of restaurants and we can recommend the Parfait, the Strand Bistro and the Mokka for hungarian food.

“Ideal location on the Pest side of the city”

The Hotel Central Basilica is an outstanding establishment that comes with a very reasonable price tag. The neighborhood is bustling, yet the hotel is serene even when full. Breakfast is substantial, with lot of options to choose from. There are a number of excellent restaurants (and a nice wine bar) on the block or on neighboring streets. Buses and subway are only a couple of blocks away. Because the hotel is across the street from the central basilica, it was easy for us to pick up tickets to an organ concert during our stay. The hotel arranged a taxi to the airport, which arrived on schedule at 5:30 a.m. Finally, the place is a great bargain.

“Perfect location and easy to find”

The nearby church makes it very easy to find as it is one of the tallest buildings in the area. Although the church bells ring once an hour, we never heard them in the room. Breakfast buffet was adequate, nothing really unique but you could find enough to eat. Desk staff were very friendly and helpful, giving excellent restaurant recommendations and researching train times for us. Access to the metro is about a 5 minute walk away.

“A real gem”

This hotel is comfortable and stylishly simple. Staff very helpful without being overly attentive. Excellent position for getting around Budapest on foot or public transport I would certainly stay there again!

“Brilliant Budget Hotel”

Stayed for five nights and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves, hotel is slap bang in the centre of Pest and a few hundred yards from the Chain Bridge to Buda and an excellent budget choice. We had a superior room which is well worth the extra with a superb view of the Basilika, spacious and spotless. Only grumble being that we found the bed a bit hard being used to USA type memory foam mattresses. Very halpful staff with excellent English which is spoken by almost everyone we met . Good cooked breakfast choice with cold meats & cheese, croissants etc. For dining out there are numerous local restaurants within a stones throw, we particularly liked Pesti Vendeglo and Bohemianya in Paulay Ede ( turn right out of hotel, & across the next square ) both with great menus and modest prices. Loved Budapest, so much to see and easy to get around on tram or bus. We used the AA Spiral Guide which was excellent and included suggested walks and excursions - we particularly liked the Childrens Railway into the hills and the chairlift back down which we would not have known about otherwise ! From the airport we took the airport shuttle bus booked on line & half the price of a taxi. All in all a great stay and thoroughly recommend the City and the hotel.

“Hotel Central Basilica”

This hotel is ideally situated for visiting Budapest. It is a stones throw from the cathedral. The staff were very helpful at all times. The breakfast always had a very good selection of items. There are very nice retaurants very near to the hotel and most of the sites are easy to visit on foot. We took the airport shuttle bus in and it is very good. The day before you return you just need to ring to arrange a time to be picked up.
