“Excellent deal”
This was an excellent local hotel in terms of value for price when I stayed. The staff was friendly and helpful. Breakfast was very good. The hotel was clean and cozy. The neighbourhood and location was super. in central budapest, with coffeeshops, restaurants, a walk to touristic areas including St. Basil (max 10 min walk). I would repeat for sure.
“Very nice hotel with great location”
The Ambra is a small hotel with everything we needed for a comfortable stay in Budapest. The location on a quiet side street is convenient for walking everywhere and very near the Opera metro stop. The friendly and efficient desk clerks were happy to make reservations for tours and taxis. The room was clean and spacious, and the breakfast was varied and tasty.
“Budapest, Hotel Ambra.”
Overall a great stay, everyone was polite and attentive, they forgot our wake up call but we had a backup anyway, (I've worked as a hotels photographer for about 200 hotels, I know not to rely on wake up calls, this is very common). There was also a tax we weren't aware of at the end, only 6 euros but not sure what that was about? Maybe a government thing . . . our cab was there so we paid and moved on. Very good location and lots to do and see... was a great stay, good hotel in a good spot.
“Disapointing hotel”
We arrived in Budapest around 1 pm. We walked to the hotel (about 20 min) following Google’s instruction. Don’t let yourself tricked by the Best Western name: it is a 2 star hotel with pretentions of 3 stars. The rooms are very small and very basic. No toiletries, very worn out, fairly robotic staff. Breakfast: very bad. Pluses: location (close to everything). Bad experience at check out: they said we took a bottle of water which we didn’t. In the end we didn’t have to pay for it, but the face of the receptionist was accusing. They asked for the plastic key back which usually it is never done... I hope it is because of eco friendly hotel… Pluses: the beauty of the city & location of the hotel makes you forget its shortcomings. Good supermarket in the corner, across the hotel. Minuses: everything else
