“Late in Barcelona”

Getting off a cruise ship in the mornning we left our luggage at the hotel and cheched in. We were told we could go to the room by 14:00. The room wasn't ready until 16:00, two hours late. No accommodation or explanation was made for the delay. Manager seemed unconcerned. I would recommend the Roger De Luria but would make sure they were ready for you. Staff was nice and room was great for the price.

“Tired old dowager of a lodge”

Hard to get excited about this musty old lady of an inn. I couldn't help thinking if I were staying in the USA at these prices I could be at the Four Seasons! Location, bathroom and room size were a plus and if I had stated more than one night I would have used the Jacuzzi style tub (assuming I could have translated the instructions). However the 4.5 star rating was at least 1.5 stars overated. English speaking staff screwed up my taxi pickup in the morning, but apologized for their disappointment. About 4 blocks from the far east end of the Ramblas. The Palace next door was probably a better bet.

“A nice hotel in great location, roomy accomodations, friendly personnel.”

We had great time staying in this hotel. We booked a 3-bed room, which had plenty of room, spacious bathroom, TV and a minibar, which we used as a fridge. The service was very nice, the room was promptly cleaned while we were out. The staff was helpful with booking trips and restaurants. The location is great - the hotel is close to many sightseen spots, while a 5-min walk to Urquinaona Metro station would take you anywhere else in Barcelona. At the same time, the neighbourhood was safe and queit. We had absolutely no distrubances at night. Sometimes I could feel slight vibration from what I thought was the elevator, but most likely were passing undeground trains. I am still not sure. It was barely noticable though. Overall, we a had nice and comfortable stay for over a week in this hotel.

Area recommendations

The surrounding area is nice. The hotel is walking distance from Passeig de Gracia, La Rambla, Placa Catalunia and the Cathedral / old city.

“Excellent Location and Service”

Very friendly and helpful front desk. Comfortable and very large room for European hotel, but looking a little dated and worn. Superb location.

Area recommendations

The whole old center city is fantastic. Interesting architecture, fountains, sculpture, etc. Numerous cafe/bars with tapas and pastries. Very active streets filled with shoppers, strollers and entertainers. Get out and walk both day and night. Never felt any concerns as to safety.

Must see

La Sagrada Familia Palau de la Musica - catch a concert if possible, otherwise take the tour.

“Great location to see Barcelona”

Hotel quality was excellent. We were in a triple which was large for a European hotel with 3 actual beds. We also had a small balcony with a nice view of the back of the hotel. Hotel is on a quiet street but only 2 blocks from the Canalonya Square and all the action.

This location was convenient but still quiet.

“I would definitely go back to this hotel”

The staff were very friendly and helpful. Especially Massimo, and Sergio always had good recommendations for directions, restaurants, events, etc. Room (double) was good sized and comfortable, in back with window open to courtyard (quieter). Bathroom was large and modern. Breakfast was somewhat high. Only con: a thin wall between my room and next. Overall, a lovely hotel and staff, at a good value. Would stay again.

Getting around

The hop-on, hop-off open tour bus was a great way to get around the city and see all the sights; gett an overview of the area. For flamenco fans: an excellent show at "El Cordobes", at 35 La Rambla ,( recommended by hotel staff. ) Really worth seeing; did not sample the dinner.

“A Gem of a Hotel”

A Gem of a Hotel Excellent neighborhood, convenient to metro, the Gran Via de les Corts Catalanes and Passeig de Gracia, etc. Wonderful staff, multilingual, free good-quality WiFi, umbrellas for take out, comfortable rooms ... a great hotel at a great price. We were delighted. I highly recommend the neighborhood -- it’s in the absolute center of the city (from a sightseeing standpoint). We walked everywhere -- to the Sagrada Familia, the Parc Guell, Casa Mia, Las Ramblas, the waterfront, the old town, etc. When we decided to to to Montserrat, the local metro station connected us directly with the train. A fantastic experience. I had mistyped my earlier ratings numbers -- mistaking 1 for top and 5 for bottom. Correct numbers are on this rating.

Area recommendations

This is the perfect area. Right in the geographic center, a walk to all attractions, a quick metro ride to all the train stations.
