"The room and breakfast were OK. We tried to call to get the shuttle to pick us up at the airport, but the front desk person (singular) was so busy that he continually put us on hold when we called. I held once for 10 minutes, but no one ever picked up the line, so I hung up. I held again for 3 minutes; same thing. We called several more times and were immediately put on hold with no person ever talking to us. We finally took a taxi.
Once we arrived at the hotel, we saw the one person at the front desk continually put calls on hold while never talking to the people on the phone. I know he was alone and overwhelmed with taking care of the people standing in front of him, but he should have told them to wait occasionally so he could talk to the people on the phone. Management should have had at least two people on duty at the check-in desk so one of them could talk on the phone. It is their fault that staffing was too low.
I texted this to Wingate's text line but received no response. I thought that was quite poor as well. I don't plan to stay in any more Wingates."
