“This is an older hotel, but is kept in excellent condition!”
This is the full service hotel of yesteryear, very nice.
“aging facility”
This elderly facility sits on the industrial side of downtown. A new Holiday Inn is being built on the west side of Amarillo and I suspect this one will be closed or sold once the new one is open. The service was quite good, and the free breakfast was hot and hearty. I am not particularly fond of the individual, in-room AC units, which work OK but it seems one is either cold when they are on or hot when they aren't, depending on the setting. They should not be allowed to post that they have a "fitness facility;" theirs consisted of two treadmills, an elliptical step machine and a spin machine, only one of which was working. Four machines hardly a fitness facility make, and certainly not a single treadmill. Price was right, but next time I'll give it a pass.
“Holiday Inn Amarillo”
Staff was very friendly and welcoming. Breakfast was good. Bed was awful. Hard as a board and pillows were lumpy. It's understandable that an older hotel won't have the latest/greatest in accomidations. Things were clean but beds need replaced and pillows do too.
“Over-priced for what you get”
Lobby was nice, restaurant OK. We had mold in our shower. Paid too much for what we got.
“probably need to look for something else”
I suppose it's fine if you want a loud place with a bar, but it's run-down, the staff was not helpful, and the pool was small, cold, and slippery. Unless you really want the 'game room' area, there are better options.
“not impressed”
Internet did'nt work. Not sure what the deal was with several (junk) cars in the parking lot, they obvilously were not travels, these cars have beend sitting there a long time.
