“Lots of atmosphere”
Lovely converted monastic buildings situated very close to the heart of the quiet town of Tavira which has only broken the tourist horizon in recent decades. The hotel has a peaceful atmosphere with very friendly staff and splendid food. They run an employee of the month scheme but we could not make a selection because all of the staff we encountered were excellent. Hotel is easily within five minutes walk of the centre but is on top of a hill so this could be an issue with people with health problems.
“Best in Tavira, Algarve”
Authentic Poussade building with contemporary interior. No driving required as ideally situated to experience Tavira. Staff and service very friendly & efficient. An experience we would gladly repeat!
“A beautiful and restful hotel built and furnished to a high quality”
My wife and I stayed at this hotel for four days and we found the staff to be extremely helpful and pleasant. Our ground floor room was nicely furnished with a small balcony overlooking a small garden. The convent has been tastefully adapted for use as a hotel mixing a good restoration with modern additions that blend well. The materials used are of a high standard. Our room was not huge but was well appointed and tasteful with a spacious and well equipped bathroom. The balcony was great for relaxing and watching the many birds that filled the sky most of the time. The staff were very helpful and the chamber maids did their work in a very unobtrusive way making for a nice, quiet stay. The breakfast supplied was extensive and varied. There are several open areas within the hotel for the use of the guests - both in the sun and in the shade and good furnishings all round. We did not use the pool but it looked very nice. All in all, a very good place to stay - and I say that as a rather fussy person.
“Would really like to keep this jewel a secret!”
We have already recommended this so highly that friends have already booked.Tavira is a lovely unspoilt town. The Pousada is abeautiful retreat from the madness that one has experienced in the past. The staff are wonderfully friendly and helpful. Our room and balcony were a good size and the beds sublime.Only one small minus; The pool lunch service was very slow. The restaurant has however has a superb menu and evening dining there is well recommended. We hope to return soon
“Relaxing Oasis”
An wonderful hotel, I would strongly recommend this hotel for its relaxed atmosphere, attentive personable staff and facilities. Breakfasts were of particular note with lots of fres fruit, cheese along with a cooked option. The converted convent provides a lovely atmosphere and is naturally cooling in the summer season (though rooms are air conditioned also). Hotel pool is well maintained and bar staff happy to help. Worth checking out the archaeological remains which are saved near the bar for guests to view.
“The best in Tavira”
The conversion to a hotel from a Convent has been beautifully done retaining much of its old charm and history with clever mix of the modern. It offers very elegant living with great service and much attention to detail. Situated in the heart of Tavira, it makes an idea place to stay and explore. It also has its own secure parking which is hard to find in Tavira.
“Excellent base for long weekend”
Very comforatble hotel located a short walk from the town centre with many cafe's, bar's and restaurants. Breakfast and dinner's are substantial.
“Wish I was Still There”
Beautifully renovated boutique hotel. This hotel really has an ambiance that can't be matched with restored cloister and other archictectual details from the past. We really liked the breakfast buffet, had everything you could possibly want and more. Room was nice with comfortable bed and plush linens, slept very well. Loved the pool and public areas of the hotel, lots of great niches to relax and take a load off even if not in our room. Free internet was nice as we booked hotels for other nights, made it so easy. Loved Portugal and Tavira would stay here again if had the chance.
“Lovely well situated hotel”
We enjoyed our brief stay at this beautifully restored and decorated hotel in a convenient location for sight seeing in Tavira. Parking was convenient also. Beautiful grounds and pool area. Lovely dining room and terrace area. Good breakfast. Large room and bathroom nicely decorated. Concierge was very helpful. Wifi not included but payable by the hour.We would definitely recommend this hotel and stay again ourselves I'd in the area. Thanks
“nice and comfortable”
Hotel was very nice, the staff were helpfull. Service at Dinner was a little lacking & the food o.k. Breakfust was good but again the service with regard to restocking the hot food & coffee etc was a little slow, guests queueing for coffee didnt look right in my opinion.

Area:
Tavira, Portugal: A handsome riverside town, Tavira is famous for its elegant 18th- and 19th-century architecture. Shunning mass tourism, it leaves international-style bars, restaurants and shops to satellite areas such as the beach resort of Cabanas. There are very good local seafood restaurants however. Its medieval castle ruins offer a panoramic view of the town which includes some fine churches. The beaches close by are long, flat and sandy.
