“Wouldn't go back”
The room was okay, but everything else was disappointing. No character, on a busy intersection, surrounded by office buildings, too far to walk into the city. Asked the guy at reception where I could buy a newspaper - he just shrugged his shoulders and said 'no idea'. About the only thing going for it was that it was pretty cheap.
“Look forward to our next visit”
We have not eaten at the Rydges, as we go to an excellent Pub about 500mts away. Plus have agood long walk to Hutt St. for breakfast. We enjoy doing these things.
“This hotel says it's 4 star...REALLY???!??!?? I've stayed in MUCH nicer 2 1/2 stars”
The first room we were given had too much traffic noise from outside, had cracks and chipped and peeling plaster in the ceilling over the shower, black mold in the shower grout, a dingy and "tired" looking room. The next night we were given a much nicer room on the 6th floor. Cleaner, (but not pristine by any stretch of the imagination) but it was acceptable and very comfortable. UNTIL they had a wedding party in the restaurant (also on the 6th floor) with LOUD banging doors, LOUD music, OBNOXIOUS guests until 2:00 in the morning!! (The wedding had been much earlier in the afternoon!) I asked management "how much longer" several times, starting at about 10:30 pm, and I kept hearing "10 more minutes". They didn't even turn down the music until 1am, when i was visibly angry at the manager. And it wasn't over until maybe 2 am. So if they're having a wedding, you might want to consider some place else. Or stay on the first 2 floors at the back of the hotel.
“Great”
We had a wonderful stay at the Rydges and would highly recommend staying there. Staff are friendly and helpful and the room was amazing.
“Cleaniness for carpet is terrible”
I stayed at the premier spa suite and it should be as good as other hotel's as mentioned room grade. There were too many lice on the carpet and toilet is not clean enough. Above all, toilet should be renovated asap.
“Good - but not quite”
The room was clean and pleasant, the staff helpful, however the pool and gym were unavailable which was not specified when booking. The breakfast was ok but there was a smell in the restaurant area which was off putting. With the exception of these two gripes I'd recommend the hotel

Rydges South Park Adelaide had exceptional service and all though going through renovations the place is very nice. The restaurant on the top level was awesome, the food was delicious. Will definitely go there agian.
