What you can expect

An interactive and engaging tour like no other—this hands-on adventure ensures a multi-dimensional immersion into Cook Islands culture. Engage every sense—not just your mind—while you taste, try-on, create, and participate at Te Vara Nui Cultural Village.

Enjoy a hotel pick-up (optional and extra charges apply…pre-booking essential), and upon arrival, you're escorted through the village gates to the drumming of a “Turou” introduction. Your guide leads you first to the History Hut. Here, have a seat and tune in to centuries-old weaponry techniques, navigation tricks and cultural legends.

Next, swing by the sacred Marae, where High Chiefs of the village once discussed pressing community matters. Proceed to the Witch doctor's Hut, which features traditional Cook Island medicine and remedies sure to curb any ache or pain. Then take off for the Fishing Hut, to learn the ancient methods that promised a sure-fire catch.

Pass through the botanical gardens and appease that love for apparel with a stop by the Costume Hut, or tap into your inner crafts person via a weaving or wood carving project at the Carving Hut.

The last stop takes you to the Coconut Hut. Learn about the importance of this fruit with a lively show featuring coconut climbing and husking before a final drum beat is sounded, signaling the end of your fascinating cultural Cook Island experience.
