What you can expect
Explore the unspoiled coastal scenery and spectacular wildlife on a day trip from Canberra. Make stops to meet the famous kangaroos at Pebbly Beach, enjoy time to wander the picturesque seaside town of Batemans Bay, and go kayaking through the pristine waters of the Clyde River.
Early in the morning, you leave Canberra following pick-up from your hotel. Via the scenic Kings Highway, cruise east towards the coast, passing through charming farmland as your guide shares stories of these early pastoral settlements. Make a stop in the historic town of Braidwood to stretch your legs or grab a coffee before continuing on.
The landscape then changes from countryside to a temperate forest filled with soft ferns and eucalyptus trees. Driving through Murramarang National Park, you stop at breath-taking Pebbly Beach, known for its resident population of kangaroos. A short drive later brings you to the seaside town of Batemans Bay, where you're given free time to explore or grab lunch on your own.
In the early afternoon, you're met by your kayaking instructions who lead you on a journey along the Clyde River. Travel through calm waters, keeping your eyes peeled for wildlife such as stingrays on the sand flats and fish among the mangrove trees. Your adventure then brings you to the Wray Street Oyster Shed, where you learn about the region's world-famous oyster industry. Sample a selection of the seafood that has been farmed here for 4 generations before making the drive back to Canberra.
