Just across the La Plata River, the winding cobbled streets and colourful houses of Colonia del Sacramento offer you a look back in time. Visit the town's quaint historic centre, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and learn about its unique history and design during your day in the charming community.

Your tour starts with pickup at your Buenos Aires hotel, where you meet your guide for the drive and a ferry ride that takes you across the water. Admire the views of the coast and the La Plata River estuary, considered the world's widest river, as you approach Colonia del Sacramento on the tip of the Uruguayan coast.

Once you step ashore, you can learn what sets Colonia apart from most of Uruguay's cities as your guide shows you its streets, houses, small bars, and restaurants. After a 2-hour guided tour, you have 3 more hours to explore on your own—head to one of the lovely plazas and small flower-filled parks, or visit some art and craft shops, museums, or the large yacht harbour.

After an outstanding day in Colonia, it's time to board the ferry back to Buenos Aires, where your ride is waiting to take you back to your hotel.
