Iceland’s oldest brewery invites you on a fascinating journey through the flavours and quirky drinking culture of the country. Learn about local habits and traditions, and taste Icelandic drinks on this entertaining tour.

Enjoying a drink or two is not an unknown pastime to the island’s population. For more than a millennium, the Viking spirit has included the consumption of beer and mead – which you can taste during this interactive tour at the stylish headquarters of the country’s oldest brewery, Olgerdin.

Start by sampling the Icelandic version of mead, as brewed by the Vikings. Hear the background of the country’s prohibition era and taste the beer-substitute that Icelanders drank at the time. You are offered a shot of Brennivin, a form of schnapps often considered to be Iceland’s signature distilled beverage, produced in Olgerdin Brewery.

In addition to these, try such native favourites as Gull beer and a traditional Christmas drink, the Malt & Appelsin. You are certain to have a smile on your face on the way back to Reykjavík.

Third visit in as many years. Every visit was different, but uniquely great...a good place for learning irrelevant and very interesting facts, with a lot of laughs. "Sylvia's" presentation was FUNNY! This is not a free flowing drink session, but that is not what this is about. BUT, there was enough volume and variety to make it worth the $'s and time. Thanks Sylvia!!!

Great fun, told you all about the relationship between Iceland and beer. Got to taste some lovely beers. But not your Traditional Brewery Tour. Beers lovely, nice small group. Would recommend.
