Description

Visit the jewels of colonial Spain on a 4-day tour through Mexico's history. You can see the historic centres of Morelia, San Miguel de Allende and Guanajuato, and get a glimpse of how imperial rule transformed the country, along with the elegant architecture and monuments that remain to this day.

Day 1: Leave Mexico City behind in the morning and travel to Morelia. Along the way, stop at Toluca to visit its grand cathedral and the Cosmovitral, a stained-glass mural and botanical garden, or simply stroll through the Civic Plaza. Continue to Morelia, known for its historical importance and its monuments. Visit the Governor's Palace, the Main Square, the Sweets Market and the gorgeous church of Capilla de Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe.

Day 2: Pass through the countryside of Michoacan to Patzcuaro, where you can cross the lake to the island of Janitzio Along the way, visit the archaeological zone and the monastery at Tzintzuntzan before continuing on to Guanajuato for the night.

Day 3: After breakfast, spend a day exploring San Miguel de Allende, a city of elegant architecture and several exquisite buildings, such as the Parroquia de San Miguel

Day 4: A walking tour takes you through the historic downtown of Guanajuato, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The Juarez Theatre, the Church of our Lady of Guanajuato, the University, the Hidalgo Market, and cobblestone streets full of stories are just a few of this city's highlights. In the afternoon, return to Mexico City
